In my humble submission, no artist presently in Hip Hop music underground or mainstream, channels the Dirty South cultural ethos better than Big K.R.I.T. Cadillactica may not reach the pedestal that Return of 4 eva sits on but it certainly offers the closest competition in his expanding catalogue. I'd only heard whispers about this emcee before I listened to under Pressure. But I have to say am awe-struck, damn! Under Pressure is a polished album and definitely a loose narrative about the influences; family-related, society-related and music-related that have shaped Logic as a person and an emcee. Hell can wait is as ominous a title as they come, in many ways this title embodies Vince's world view. His cynical realism is not grounded in hopelessness but rather in an almost nonchalant "life's a bitch" demeanor. This sophomore effort to the enthralling masterpiece that was RTJ picks up where its predecessor left off. This is both a good & bad thing. A good thing because RTJ was a brilliant body of work that harnessed the irrefutable synergy of Killer Mike and El-P excellently. RTJ2 brings this to the fore once again and builds on it sonically and lyrically.
