Future - MIXTAPE PLUTO
66

Not a terrible mixtape, but disappointing considering the hype behind Future after two albums with Metro Boomin. Wish there were some features on this project and some questionable production choices, but overall only a few bad tracks with most of the tracks being solid listens.

BEST TRACKS: Ski, Brazzier, South Of France
WORST TRACK: Plutoski

Kanye West - ye
85

Kanye's most personal album at the time. Only 7 tracks long, it covers a lot of ground in such a short runtime. The production proves to be stellar, and the album ages better each day. What a run in 2018 for Kanye West.

BEST TRACKS: No Mistakes, Ghost Town, Violent Crimes
WORST TRACK: Wouldn't Leave

90

This album has aged like fine wine. The clash of creativity and reality blend well on this project, with wild production choices and bipolar lyrical content. A first true look into the mind of Kanye West, and a representation of what a crazy genius really sounds like.

BEST TRACKS: Saint Pablo, No More Parties In LA, Waves
WORST TRACK: Low Lights

Kanye West - Yeezus
75

Another instance of Kanye influencing the next generation of hip-hop. Short and sweet, 10 tracks does just enough to make an impact on any listener with its futuristic production. Although it has become slightly overrated, it still is a great listen and arguably a classic among many.

BEST TRACKS: Blood On The Leaves, Bound 2, Guilt Trip
WORST TRACKS: I'm In It, Send It Up

JAY-Z & Kanye West - Watch the Throne
68

A groundbreaking album at the time with two of the greatest rappers in history making an album together. However, the project has not aged the greatest, with a majority of the production sounding dated. Multiple songs are also a drag to get through, with them either being lyrically boring or just simply too long. The album still has bangers and was the first truly large collab album.

BEST TRACKS: Primetime, That's My Bitch, The Joy
WORST TRACKS: Who Gon Stop Me, H.A.M.

Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak
75

One of the most influential albums in terms of sound. The use of autotune and production choices allowed many current rappers to take inspiration and jumpstart their careers. Although not one of Kanye's best, it is still a solid listen and continues to be underrated despite its influence.

BEST TRACKS: Heartless, Paranoid, Say You Will
WORST TRACK: Welcome To Heartbreak

Kanye West - Graduation
95

An album filled with radio hits and nostalgia. This is as close as you can get a studio album to sound like a greatest hits album. Undeniably one of the best albums of all time, marking an end to gangster-rap and opening a new door for hip-hop. At the end of the day, Kanye did make Graduation.

BEST TRACKS: Can't Tell Me Nothing, Flashing Lights, I Wonder
WORST TRACK: Drunk And Hot Girls

Kanye West - Late Registration
100

Kanye in his creative prime. An album with a sound no one could touch before or recreate after. A true Kanye West classic, and forever one of my favorite albums of all time. Wish more rappers used an orchestral and soulful sound for their production.

BEST TRACKS: Heard Em Say, Drive Slow, Addiction, Late
WORST TRACK: My Way Home

Polo G - HOOD POET
58

A below average trap project. Polo G sounded fine on most songs, but the majority of the features and production were trash. The mixing is subpar on most tracks. Not worth a three-year wait from the last Polo G album.

BEST TRACKS: God's Favorite, Same Me, Rain Fallin
WORST TRACKS: Detox, No Turning Back, Bad Kids

Zach Bryan - The Great American Bar Scene
85

Never understood the Zach Bryan hype until now. The album was beautiful, with great lyrical content and vocal performances that could be considered some of the best of this year. Zach Bryan keeps the album feeling more personal than ever. Easily in contention for the best album of 2024.

BEST TRACKS: 28, Oak Island. Pink Skies
WORST TRACK: Memphis The Blues

¥$ - VULTURES 2
59

Kanye West is officially washed. Completely unfinished, with awful mixing and terrible vocals. Although they are "updating" the album daily, it should have never been released in this state to begin with. If Ye is really addicted to nitrous, it shows on this project. Please Ye, take care of yourself before releasing more music.

BEST TRACKS: Field Trip, Promotion, River
WORST TRACKS: Forever, Bomb, Husband

Lauren Watkins - The Heartbroken Record
75

For a debut country album, Lauren Watkins did her thing. The instrumentals throughout the album are great, with her melodic voice and songwriting making each song worth listening. It isn't nothing groundbreaking, but it does the job and shows her potential.

BEST TRACKS: Gatlinburg, Mama I Made It, Shirley Temple
WORST TRACK: Cowboys On Music Row

Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
100

The best hip-hop album ever made. From the production to the features, Kanye West took all his public controversy and turned it into one of the most brilliant pieces of art of all time. This album set the bar high for Kanye, as well as the industry in general, for years to come.

BEST TRACKS: Devil In A New Dress, Runaway, So Appalled
WORST TRACK: Blame Game

Logic - Ultra 85
85

This may be his best album since his “retirement” of No Pressure. Great production and features throughout the project. Logic sounds hungry and filled with creative energy again. An overall fun listen.

BEST TRACKS: Innerstellar, In Retrospect, Ghost In the Machine, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
WORST TRACK: Gardens III

Jack Harlow - Jackman.
90

I never knew Jack Harlow could have an album like this in the tank. The most conscious, heartfelt, and truly honest Harlow album. Filled with smooth production and solid rapping and flows throughout the album. Jack finally took all the hate and turned it into something he can be proud of.

BEST TRACKS: They Don’t Love It, Denver, No Enhancers
WORST TRACK: Gang Gang Gang

Jack Harlow - Confetti
80

The first great Jack Harlow project. Filled with bangers, a few duds here and there. Overall, a fun listen and showcased the creativity of a pre-mainstream Harlow.

BEST TRACKS: Thru The Night, Goin Back Down, Rain, River Road
WORST TRACKS: Ghost, Rotten

Kanye West - JESUS IS KING
70

A gospel-rap album by Kanye West was not on my bingo card for his career trajectory, but here we are. The production is unmatched, with most songs sounding triumphant and filled with Kanye's passion for his belief in religion. It's truly beautiful that although some of the material is lackluster, and it holds nothing compared to other Kanye projects, the album is still better than the majority of projects released today. I would not put this album high on any list, but I have a ton of ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.
100

Hot take, but this is easily Kendrick Lamar's magnum opus. An album that can be played front to back and back to front, with every song adding to the overall story and theme of the album. To follow up "To Pimp A Butterfly", an already classic album, "DAMN" holds its own and even more on a rap standpoint. He answered all the doubters and made everyone truly realize who this generations greatest rapper really is, Kendrick Lamar.

BEST TRACKS: Element, Fear, ... read more

Kanye West - The College Dropout
95

One of, if not the greatest debut album by any artist of all time. What a way to enter the industry for his rapping career after being a notorious producer for years. The College Dropout changed the rap landscape forever, and continues to age gracefully.

BEST TRACKS: All Falls Down, Family Business, Jesus Walks
WORST TRACK: Get Em High

Drake - So Far Gone
60

Drake's debut commercial mixtape is nothing special. It has its bangers and commercial successors like "Best I Ever Had", but a lot of the tracks are too slow and lackluster with minimal production and a weak lyrical tone. It has it's exceptions, however, with Drake showcasing his potential throughout the mixtape.

BEST TRACKS: Successful, Uptown, Say What's Real
WORST TRACK: Unstoppable
