Since the disband of BlackPink, Jennie has been working on Ruby as her debut album and has proved that she, with her own talents and creativity, is able to work as a solo artist.
Ruby was my last listen in the list ( Mayhem-I said I love you first-So close to what-Ruby) because I am not fond of K-Pop, also I didn't set high expectations for this album. The reality has lived up much more than my expectations and standards. A deserved 8.
The first half of the album highlights Jennie's talents and especially vocals. Not only able to tackle between a range of different genres, from rnb, to pop, rap,... Jennie's vocals also add to the vibes of the tracks. I had so much fun listening to the first part. The collabs were also great. Like Jennie and Zen are the brightest gems here.
After Zen, things start to go slowly but not as lazy and generic like "So Close to what" or failed miserably as "Mayhem" does. Personally, the second half can't be compared with the first half as I mentioned before ,but there are enjoyable songs like "Starlight" , "Seoul City". Twin is also where Jennie's songwriting is at her peak.
Fav : Zen, ExtraL, Like Jennie
Least fav : FTS, Love hangover
