This song is objectively not good, but I just can’t help loving it whenever I listen to it. Even the corny lyrics just make me smile every time. I just find the roughness and homemade vibe it gives off so charming.
Whenever I hear this song on my fyp, I want to throw my phone across the room and take a massive dump on it.
What is life? What is reality? Is the world even real? All of these are questions not posed on this EP, but it sure does make me question them.
Joji’s best project by far. Joji’s main issue on projects has always been his consistency and this EP fixed that completely. This entire project has the vibe of going to a Japanese hotel late at night. I get why Joji hasn’t released this thing though as he probably wanted to lean more into vocal focused projects over mainly instrumental ones.
It’s pretty rough around the edges but that’s kind of its charm. Some of these songs have such simple beats that I think anyone can make them. Does this style always work in Joji’s favor? No, but it definitely does make this album stand out and sometimes it can work with stuff like Attention.
While still quiet a good ambient album, it’s feels lacking in the atmosphere of Tim Hecker’s other work.
I heard this thing was dense, but oh my god. This thing felt suffocating. There is so much packed in these 27 minutes. There is basically no breaks on this album and it is masterful.
