Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2
89

as vibrant and imaginative as its predecessor! still top tier modern pop imo

WATERS - What's Real
80

i’ve got a huge soft spot for this album. Saw them open for Matt and Kim and bought a cd that i must’ve listened to 100 times over on my long commutes to school and work. i’m always blasted with nostalgia every time i throw this on <3

Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience
90

a modern masterclass in pop production full of sweet and sexy songs that subvert traditional Top 40 song structure with indulgent extended outros and mid song remixes. i always love revisiting this.

Joji - Piss In The Wind
68

there are some really solid highlights throughout but i wish that many of these tracks were more fleshed out because there’s a lot of good ideas here that feel underdeveloped. i really like the direction this album takes joji’s sound but it ultimately left me wanting more.

dj_methodikal - alarmingly Lofi

this is an underground tweaker-beat masterpiece!!! more people need to hear this.

Diamanda Galás - Vena Cava
90

wowww this is so beautiful, unsettling, and genuinely funny ! it’s not going to be for everyone but it’s well worth experiencing imo

Paleface Swiss - The wilted EP
30

this is the musical equivalent of folding socks in a bad mood.

KILL KARL - SUCK ON MY ALBUM
10

wellp. swearing had a good run y’all 🪦
i’d be lying if i said i didn’t laugh at this through my nose at least once but mannnn this is anoyying and impressively misses the mark on all fronts. bars full of nostalgia critic flows and ear grating refrains full of the exaggerated swagadociousness of an edgy millennial theater kid. it ignorantly imagines that it’s attempts at being self aware absolve it of criticism but they just end up making this painfully unfunny ... read more

Dream Dolphin - Angel 13: From the Hyper Speed Forest

i haven’t listened to too many techno projects in full before so i don’t have the strongest frame of reference but i realllly enjoyed this. its incredibly paced and varied throughout. danceable tranceable ear candy
(っ˘ ཀ ˘ς)

Aerosmith - One More Time
30

the mix sounds like it’s coming from the busted overhead speakers at a bass pro shop. what a mess lmao

shteppi - this weird girl really likes rain.
70

short sweet and sincere songs about transness

Demi Lovato - It's Not That Deep
50

It’s Not That Unique ٩(ˊ〇ˋ*)و Zzz

The Number Twelve Looks Like You - Put on Your Rosy Red Glasses
85

a crazy variety of rhythms, riffs, and screams packed into a super tight album - excluding the final 12 min of silence, which i won’t lie did actually go pretty hard

Miley Cyrus - Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz
70

the songwriting is often so basic as to induce eye rolling, but this is far and away miley’s most unique, interesting and experimental album to date and is definitely worth a listen for the flaming lips instrumentation alone, even if the feature length runtime doesn’t feel fully justified.

Ashnikko - Smoochies
80

this is ashniko at her most playful and self aware. even when the goofy and often childish lyrics don’t hit for me, the bombastic 2000s era pop production absolutely does. this album knows what it is and wears its inspirations proudly around its neck.

could have done without “baby teeth” tho

Tame Impala - Deadbeat
70

there are certainly better house records out there but i found kevin’s use of dance music as a vehicle to sing about his insecurities, social anxiety’s, and fears of rejection to work more often than it didn’t. the instrumentals can be a little lukewarm at times but the tone remains consistent throughout making for an enjoyable enough front to back listen.

was it what anyone was expecting? nah. is that a bad thing? iiiiii don’t think so ┐(´ー`)┌

Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
100

no idea how i managed to avoid this for so long. well worth the hype!

ISSBROKIE - SWAGGOT!
40

it insists upon itself, lois.

on the real i feel like there’s a lot of missed potential with this. it’s nowhere near as bombastic as the title would suggest. what i heard were a collection of underwhelming to serviceable trap cuts that - with the exception of OUT DA WINDOW! - failed to leave much of a mark on me. pretty new to ISSBROKIE so i’m leaving the door open to be surprised in the future but this one just isn’t for me.
