Lucki's beat selection is great on this album, as it always is. Most of these songs had pretty high potential, there was even a good Lil Baby verse on here.
Lucki's heavy use of autotune just throws me off. Most of the songs without autotune were hard. I don't know if it's me not being use to his voice under autotune, or if it just takes that signature tone of his voice out of the songs that will usually pull me in, but it made it hard to connect with a good portion of the ... read more
Unfortunately the nostalgia bait did not translate on this album.
I know there is a trend in electronic right now to grab inspiration from the 2000s, and I usually am a fan of what comes out of that. But the handfull of remixes here were very hit or miss. The Fell Good Inc. remix probably my favorite song on this album, but the original is probably one of my favorite songs of all time as well, so the bait worked there. The remix of Without Me by Eminem, though, was a hard miss.

This album gave me my favorite listening experience so far this year. It reminded me why I love unsettling music. I haven't be given anxiety by an album I such a long time.
It is easy to imagine the sounds of this album into a visual. This album is essentially an audio movie. As the album went on I started to catch on to the themes of the album, I was lost for a beginning portion of the project.
Music like this sort of reminds me how hard it can be to give a number to art.
Nothing but bangers on this album. Alot of songs feel nostalgic, I can hear the feeling of the mid 2000s (?) on this album but everything also sounds so fresh and not a copy of anything. For sure is the most fun I've had listening to an album this year. And for a debut album, this is perfect.
Two great dance albums coming out on the same day, this along with the Slayyyter album, reminded me of a quote from 100 Horses by Geese. And this album was very needed personally. This will be on ... read more
Yeat is suffering from what too many rappers fall for.
Part of the album rollout was Yeat claiming to be branching out and trying things on this album that rappers haven't tried. Every time I hear a rapper say these things I begin to lower my expectations for what they put out next. This album is bloated, as most rap albums are at this point. But it's boated while trying to be too many things at once.
This is a trap rappers fall into so often. There's this idea that rap music ... read more
Sort of reminds me of the whichhouse from the early 2010s but doesn't sound outdated at all. This is a solid album with a few tracks I will be coming back to.
Interesting stylistic change on this album.
Harlow is pretty good at this neo-soul sound, I have no complaints about his talent over this production. This is not what I want from Jack Harlow however, which is just a me problem. I've never been the biggest fan of this sound in general. Can't say the music is bad, it just tends to get boring pretty quickly. Something about All Of My Friends did really connect with me, but outside of that song there wasn't anything I would think ... read more
A fun and interesting post punk record for me, right up my ally when it comes to this genre. Might not be a great comparison, but at times I heard Swans in how the vocals lingered while the instruments continued to pound away.
Lots of good guitar work and danceable grooves throughout this album.
Began with a very strong 4 song run and continued to slow down from there. Still is a solid album, nothing to dislike and lots of songs that are enjoyable.
Just by comparing her most recent two albums, I can tell I enjoy Mitski's music much more without her band backing her.
I hear a lot of Mitski's modern song progressions in this album that he built on from her last one. The difference being they are much more grand on this project. I huge part of the appeal of The Land was how minimal and soft each song was. I really felt her heartbreak through the music. And I'm not saying I can't on this album, because I can. Along with ... read more
By far his most personal and intimate album.
After watching his documentary episodes, I had a feeling this album might get deep into his issues growing up with the family he was given. But even with all of the heavy lyrics on this album, he still keeps the mood up by giving us the fun stuff that I love from him. He's one of my favorite rappers when he's having fun.
I usually am not a huge fan of his songs when he decides to take a mellow and serious tone, but I think he was able to ... read more
Lots of interesting sounds on this project, I loved a lot of it.
A good portion of the album sort of came across like a demo tape. Maybe because of the short and experimental nature of the songs, with some drastic sonic changes between the songs. But I don't see that as a negative at all, sort of adds to what makes this album appealing.
I thought the music on here was pretty unique, a great collection of songs to make a debut with.
I could bop my head to this album all the way through.
The beat all throughout the album is constant and I love that feature. Feels like it was perfectly crafted to give one string of beats that evolves from each song. Almost like one long knocking, hard hitting rhythm.
I would have a night at a club that sounds like this.
I first saw this band in 2022 when they were an opener for Destroy Boys, they made a great impression on me. I liked the mix of heavy shoe gaze with riot grrrr values and messaging. So I've been following them up to this point, waiting for this debut album.
There is a pretty even mixture of anger over loud instrumentals and a sort of apathy over very atmospheric sounds. I just can't say I'm a fan of much of the content on this project, especially the heavier stuff. My favorite ... read more
This album is very good in parts.
It's a solid psych rock album, and given how I'm not a huge fan of psychedelic rock, I can't say it was a bad album. I just wasn't moved by most of the material on here, and when I would start to really enjoy something the song would end. Most songs peaked within the last third, but the first two thirds weren't usually anything to grab on to.
This guy's ear for beats is amazing. By far his most consistent project, and that was his big weakness to me so this also ends up being his best project so far. And this is just a little project before the main album so I really hope he goes this direction on the album. I have high hopes.
This was the first album by The Cure I've ever heard, probably during the covid lockdowns. I fell in love with this album instantly and I believe is my starting point of getting into gothic music. Some of the most romantic music you will hear will come from gothic bands, and those bands were probably influenced by this band. They were probably inspired by this album in specific even. I can imagine myself dancing to this album, with my partner in a dim room. The music in this album brings ... read more
Pretty and loving shoegaze. It is sort of refreshing to hear a shoegaze album like this in a time where they all sort of blend together to me. This album sounds lighthearted. Some jangly drumming paired with the fuzziness of the guitars, it made for a pretty album.
Solid album. This is very close to stuff that I usually love, I was listening to this album just waiting for something to connect with me but never really found it. I don't really know what was missing from this album, maybe I wanted more interesting vocals throughout the project.
I do enjoy the constant progression in every song, made most songs pretty enjoyable. Just was nothing that stood out to me.
