No doubt this is some of the most exciting releases in dubstep those year. Pt.2 continues this hype train with some of the big names in the scene and some rising stars like PYKE and hurtbox. But some of the issues I have with the last comp are more evident here. Most of these remixes feel very detatched from the original a bit too much, The og album isn’t about fake out riddim drops, it’s a certain aesthetic and story which very few artists matched. Dveight, space wizard the stoned ... read more
dude
turn it down
this has like no impact. Cool sounds but a weird aversion to having things be dynamic in the mix.
exception is brain squeak
jeez making a debut album just sucks all the creativity and invention out of you.
You know I can appreciate the raw energy that pulsates through these tracks, and the production at points really sell that manic and distorted vibe. BUT GODDAMIT is this album just boring to listen to. I'm actually impressed someone can make the same riddim song over and over and over. This did not need to be 50 minutes, it needed to be 15 cause 90% of the songs is stuff we've heard from hole before.
like this! and BONKERS was my fav cause it was actual decent departures from his ... read more
HONESTLY some of the best freeform bass ever made from a more mainstream artist
If the mix was consistent I would probably enjoy it more, I am not a huge fan of her voice still
I rather listen to horses eating grass
My life is like a video game and that meme will be your legacy ron. LIVE WITH THAT
even though worlds is not my favorite I think this track is the best example of what that album is all about. Listening to it felt like returning to an old home you haven't been to in years but has faint scents of that familiar smell, and the light still catches your eye in the way it did in your memories. with soft computerized vocals and a stunningly beautiful synth build the track is like being able to remember a dream vividly and then its gone. I am not a huge fan of nostalgia but ... read more
When you take the sparkling melodies of Porter Robinson, the distorted lofi -production of soul glo, and the larger than life sound of swans. You get this gem of a record from south Korean’s very own parannoul. This record feels like even more of an embrace of the innocent and blown out sound he’s been cultivating and it all comes together in a captivating and memorable experience. The record feels like that feeling of warmth you get from the sun after being in your house for too ... read more
Not as bad as pt 1 but it hurts my soul remembering how hype I was for donda only for this to the new reality. Will probably not listen to any of these again
Teeth clenching, cerebral, and fun as fuck, this record and its polished production feels like it came from the mind of someone on the razor edge of oblivion.
The anime boy drops, and this record is a testament to his creativity and personality. The record feels like one part alternate reality of what porter could be like if he went full disingenuous Taylor Swift mode, and another part the most genuine and personal porter that that has been presented. This juxtaposition of bombastic personality with vulnerable truth makes for a melancholic experience that takers the viewer makes them question their own vices, vanity, idols they look up to, etc. ... read more
