Alright another Benee EP. Let's see how she has grown in the two years since she last put things out for the world to listen...
Beach Boy:
It's not relaxed or lackadaisical enough for me to consider this to be a true beach song for your own beach boy. I don't really even think of the beach listening to this but driving past one. But she is asking for the guy to be her beach Boy for only a day, so this song doesn't take place at the beach necessarily. Still I would prefer it to slow things down, bring up more relaxed beach vibes, then I would consider this song worthy of a beach boy. It's fine, but not what I am looking for.
Soft Side:
Benee.... What is this generic ass shit you are giving me? I KNOW you can do better than this cheap corporate party music. C'mon. Be better than this.
Hurt You, Gus:
That was a nothing song. I have nothing to say about it. It leaves zero impact or anything memorable to discuss.
Never Ending:
Alright I like the chorus. I would prefer if the last part of the song was a bit more gradual in its production rather than hard jerking from soft, to big dramatic moment, to a more downbeat version. It doesn't help that Benee isnt changing how she sings this entire time to help boost the impact of each section. The verses were pretty forgettable. So yeah I got a few problems with this song. Seems a bit rushed to me. These kinds of songs need to take their time so each part can have its own impact. It's pretty clunky and I don't like it.
Marry Myself:
I think there are better ways to reject a proposal than saying "put the ring down I want to marry myself. Give the ring to someone else" then proceed to run away dramatically. The song is forgettable too, but still just as nice as you can tell him no and help him through the resulting emotional fallout cause you most likely still care for the guy since something about you convinced him that this was the time to bring up the big question. I don't know either of you nor do I have any context, so maybe don't listen to me? He could be a bumbling fool and this is your first date for all I know. IDK. I just didn't like this kind of response to the question even if it's you being honest. There's still better ways to say even that. Eh, whatever. The song is a whole bunch of meh anyways.
Doesn't Matter:
Another nothing song. My opinion doesn't matter either, but I just like expressing it ok?
Make You Sick:
You claim to be a bad bitch, but I am not convinced in the slightest. Aren't you the supalonley girl? Plus this isn't a bad bitch kinda song in the slightest. There are points where her soft voice doesn't match the production to me. I do like the "Slept through the alarm" section though. That part was one of the rare points in this EP that I was vibing to.
So yeah this is not the best Benee has to offer. I have a lot of problems with this EP. I'm sad to say that this was pretty disappointing.
