Synthpop but just a bit gloomier for those kind of nights.

I am so into this vibe that is all over this album. It's festive, but not necessarily joyful. The production is addictively great and that voice is made for this vibe! This is easily my favorite Depeche Mode album so far I love so much of what it's offering! It switches things up at "Blue Dress" to keep the intrigue and freshness up to par. Then finishes off with a stunning conclusion with "Clean" The Whole album is amazing I just wanted to highlight the closing track cause I was getting worried that the Gothic party vibe would grow stale but they did their jobs of keeping things fresh while tying a bow on the experience quite well. For whatever reason it's the track "Halo" that's the only track that didn't catch me like the rest of the album did so effortlessly. So while unfortunately I don't consider this album perfect, it's so damn good that it's easily a highlight of 1990 and an easy contender for that year's AOTY.

Recs:
- World in My Eyes
- Personal Jesus
- Waiting for the Night
- Enjoy the Silence
- Policy of Truth
- Blue Dress
- Clean
