I am finally about to finish the trifecta of discogs to complete my first project. The Discography of The Garden: Deluxe Edition is going to become one of my many lists so I am looking forward to finishing the first. After this I am going to get back to the grind for my insane project of listening to every acclaimed album from 1965 to today. Currently I am in in 1979.

The thing is that I haven't started seriously reviewing and rating every album on this site until midway through 1973. Hell I didn't even make an account and was just using this site as a guide up to 1971. That's why pretty much all of the earlier years are missing. I plan on filling it out some day, but I am prioritizing my already very slow progression though time. Just gotta take it one album at a time.

Speaking of albums, I am supposed to be reviewing one right now instead of blabbering about my future plans and crap. So let's get started!

I have already listened, and reviewed this album before but that was back in June when my confidence of my writing wasn't as strong so I made a quick thought of the album overall and just uploaded it. It went something like "This is ok but I know that Enjoy can do better." With a 60 rating. And I think Enjoy, despite my early troubles with his work, deserves a better review than that low effort crap that took ten seconds to make. So without a further ado let's begin the review for Enjoy's latest Album!

----------------------------Start of Formal Review-------------------------------

Hard Lesson:
Every time you wanna get back up!
They wanna knock you down!

I like the change of focus from the synthesizer to the traditional band instruments. This is a lot more stripped back and focused. Which is a nice change of pace.

The first half is pretty standard punk, nothing too impressive. The later half with the bass and then the Guitar having a nice showcase. It's nothing you haven't heard before but it's a pleasant listen that reminds me of driving down a highway up the California coast with Tall palms swaying on the sides of the road. To the left is the vast blue Pacific with picture perfect waves crashing the shoreline. To the Right is a large mountain full of shrubs ready to be burned away furiously with the slightest spark.

We finish the song with a quick repeat of the chorus. It's a well executed song but is nothing special.

Lately:
We start this song off with some motherfucking COWBELL! It also has the bass and those springed doorstops that I like to play with to this day. ( I know there's an actual instrument but with my lack of knowledge I don't know the name of it. So I call out whatever it reminds me of. If you do know the name feel free to educate a poor ignorant lad!) Then after a bit, the guitar kicks everything else out of the spotlight like the selfish bastard it is.

And with that we start off the song properly with Enjoy joining the chorus of sounds to sing about whatever since I don't have the lyrics available for this song.

Anyways not that it matters much since soon after I started loosing interest in what I was hearing for the rest of the song. Nothing interesting is going on so my attention quickly drifts away.

Hill to Die On:
I don't give a shit it's your fuckin life!

DAMN that bass is so good! It's more punk but this time it's a lot more fun! The acoustic guitar adds a nice new dynamic to the soundscape whenever it shows itself.
This is just an energetic lighthearted fun punk song that's toe tapping and head noddingly great!

Dear John Letter:
A solid straight forward punk song. Nothing really caught my attention.

Exploited:
Like the focus on the acoustic guitars on this track. Otherwise it's still nothing to write home about. It's nice.

Ring Your Bell:
And we are back to the energetic punk. I bet this song is a favorite at concerts cause it's real easy to dance and romp about to this. It's a fun one, but it's not going to wow any critics.

Jerk Driver:
Man Enjoy really hasn't gotten over the problem that most of his music sounds pretty similar to each other and are not individually memorable. This resulting with them bleeding into each other. I can get pretty bored if there's nothing at least interesting or new every once in a while. So I am not impressed anymore with this straightforward punk with little variety. I want some new element. Maybe a COWBELL return?

Save My Soul, Not My Ship:
Alright I am done being patient. This is just lame at this point. I want something new for my ears to enjoy. I'm tired of the punk.

Promise Land:
Another punk track. 😐
I know that's what the album is all about sonically, but holy shit this starts to get irritating after a while. I am hearing almost the same song over and over again. I want something NEW!

100 mph on the Highway:
Sigh...

Punks fine and all, but I want some variety in my listening experience. Is that too hard to ask?

Make a Dent in the City:
HOLY SHIT it actually happened! Man that was so euphoric to experience! A different vibe! Some atmosphere for once! It's not chunky and gritty Punk no more! This is light and airy punk to vibe to! This is MUCH more my style! A great finish to a pretty boring album!

I only really enjoyed "Lately" and the closer "Make a Dent in the City" since those are the only two that dares to do something unique and interesting. The rest is just your everyday generic forgettable punk.
