Holy shit another favorite of mine Todd Rundgren produced this! Now I am extra excited to see what this album has in store!
Fredrick:
Whoa ok. Patti sounds a lot less raw and passionate in this track. She sounds almost generic. If I didn't know that this was her I would almost not even recognize her. I was not expecting that tbh. I was expecting more of Patti's greatness with the spice of Rundgren's magic to make quite the unique experience. An almost generic love song with fantastic writing is fine too. I like it.
Dancing Barefoot:
Ok now this is a bit more of the Patti that I know and love! It's great like always. I could listen to her sing poetic lines all day I swear.
So You Want to Be:
A straight forward rock song. She does her part well and the music is exciting. Nothing too special, but well executed.
Hymn:
It's a very simple little tune. The harp, or whatever it is, is a bit annoying. The writing is a straight forward hymn. Pretty unremarkable tbh.
Revenge:
This is a great rock song! Straight forward but fantastic execution! Check this out!
Citizen Ship:
More of the exciting and fun rock. This album wasn't what I was expecting, but for what it is, I am really enjoying myself!
Seven Ways of Going:
Whoa the Patti that I am more familiar with is back and it's as fantastic as ever! It never gets old!
Broken Flag:
It's an ok Ballad. Not her best, but pretty solid. Let's see how she finishes off the album.
Wave:
Holy shit that was gorgeous! The writing was amazing! It truly was like a girl nervously talking to her crush. The production really enhances the stressful and awkwardness Patti effortlessly expresses! The emotion she portrays is so fucking rich! It's like you are right there witnessing her do this! Amazing just amazing! And then the last part of the song after the awkward conversation is just sublimely gorgeous! This is honestly some of her best work. I am so impressed! What a great way to close the album!
So yeah while overall this isn't my favorite Patti album I still overall enjoyed my with it. Make sure you listen to "Dancing Barefoot", "Seven Ways of Going" and ESPECIALLY the closer "Wave".
