Frank Zappa.
(Wipes sweat bead) Man... don't follow up listening to a bloated 2 hour album of a legendary rapper( 2 Pac's "All Eyez on Me) that manages to be great with its lengthy experience with a mother fucking 3 hours post humonous release of a legendary rocker that some how, some way, manages to be just as great as his legendary feats of the 60s and 70s if not even better. (The album I am currently talking about.)Yeah by the time this was released in 96, this sound is already pretty damn retro being almost 20 years from it's prime. Still, the quality is timeless as ever and the genius of Zappa, one of my all time favorite creative minds in music, is displayed one more time for my grateful soul. The classic funk and groove doesn't get old, the guitar solos still hit the soul, the instrumental action in general is just awe inspiring, his baritone voice is iconic as his infamous bold yet immature humor. The variety, pacing, production, composition, lyricism and storytelling and sheer creative artistry on display here is utterly breathtaking! This shit completely blew my mind! I thought I couldn't love this guy any more, but after all this time since I have last heard him, he managed to have me fall for him all over again! What a man (RIP), what an album (ridiculously long, hard, and amazing as the ladies say), and what a way to spend three hours of my life! I know that I might be going a bit hard on my glazing, but this is legitimately one of my all time favorite artist doing everything I love about his works for three God damn hours. I got a right to be at least a little excited over it. And hopefully if you are a fan of Zappa, you can appreciate this as much as I obviously have.
Recs:
- If you are a fan of Zappa, and got a lot of free time then just listen to the whole damn thing. I guarantee you it's worth the investment! This masterpiece is definitely not for the uncultured that are new to him. The "culture shock" might be a bit much for you.
