A Forgetful Morning
I swear half of my Discover Weekly this week was artists under the Numero Group label, this artist being one of them. I was introduced to this album through the song ‘I Want To Lay With You’ which was probably my favourite out of the 10 song long track list. I wasn’t overly impressed with this album, it wasn’t hard to get through since it’s only 25 minutes in length but it was forgetful. The end half of this album includes most if not all of ... read more
REAL Heavy Metal!!!!
This is in fact NOT heavy metal but instead a 44 minute long album of a white boy with a unique voice whining about his life but in a listenable type way. I was eager to check this album out in a full listen after reading various rave reviews. A lot of them mention that he is a front man for the band Geese who I’ve never heard a single song from so maybe I’ll check them out after hearing his masterpiece of a vocal performance throughout this album. I ... read more
2 Decades Later?
The story of how this band rose from the dead has been repeated ad nauseam almost as much as the reason why the genre shoegaze is called shoegaze so I won’t be adding that in my review (use google). I first gave this album a listen when it was released but didn’t really think much about it after that, as much as I’d like to say I will be thinking about this album for the next decade, it’s just not true. It’s not an unpleasant listen, instrumentals ... read more
SKRILLEX IS…GOOOD??!!
NUKE RADIO WE MAKE YOUR EARDRUMS BLEEEEEED. I never thought I’d be listening to a Skrillex album in full length especially in 2025 but I’m so happy I am. This whole album felt like one cohesive DJ set. The tracks blend beautifully together, each one setting up the next for success so there’s never a dull or boring moment. I also love Dj Smokey’s additions to each track. That voice is just so iconic and adds that entertainment value that only ... read more
Early Teenage Nostalgia
I had the idea to review all of Alex G’s albums that are up on Spotify for really no reason other than I want to listen to some Alex G. He’s an artist I’ve been familiar with since his rise from his single ‘Treehouse’ and was really only there for the release of God Save The Animals. I know he’s grown a lot as an artist and as a person through the years so I thought it was a good idea to go in chronological order to really see him ... read more
A Slow Exhale
A soft summer breeze, watching the raindrops race down a car window, a snowflake glistening in the winter sun, a slow exhale, these are experiences that I think perfectly describe what I heard when I pressed play on ‘Ask Me Tomorrow’ by ‘Mojave 3’ the soothing guitar combined with Rachel Goswell’s beautiful vocals create one of my favourite openers for an album called ‘Love Songs on the Radio’. I wanted to revisit this album as it’s ... read more
*Skip this paragraph if you want to get to the review*
This will be my first ever *real* review on AOTY. I’ve been writing down my thoughts on albums for about 5 years now (just for myself to read) as one of my creative outlets and I wanted to build onto those thoughts even further while also sharing them with other people. I will also say that joining kandz discord community definitely pushed me to start putting more effort into my reviews to share them on here, so definitely go to his ... read more
first half is like wowza great atmosphere second half it’s hit or miss. thought he was just gonna be a mediocre tiktok artists but i was impressed by most of this album.
Such a fun and entertaining album very little dull moments with the crazy instrumentals and the engaging vocals really make this album special. The beginning creates an exciting atmosphere that travels from one song to the next with unique and intriguing instrumentals, the middle really pulls you in further with tracks like Kerosene! and Super Stars, and the ending tracks of the album move into a softer and relaxed soundscape allowing you to sit back and reflect the incredible ride you just ... read more
some songs are just there and don't add anything to the album but length, others are dope no in-between
