Sorry Mom - Juno Goes to the Big House

This album is ridiculous and trashy and sleazy but also somehow really poignant. God I love it, in case you couldn’t tell from my pfp. I’m seeing some complaints about the vocals on here, which is funny because those are actually my favorite part. The raspiness contrasts with the rest of their sound, and it leads to a really unique listening experience.

(Okay so I wrote a whole ass review yesterday and then forgot to post it and the draft was lost to the AOTY void. I hate everything. Um so this is my best replica of what I remember:)

This is a really fun, dance-able album. I don’t listen to a lot of hyperpop, but I really loved the high energy. Some hits and some misses, but overall a really snazzy album.

BANGER ALBUM. Call me a 2020 preteen emo kid but what can I say, this album is so scream-in-the-showerable <3

Individual song reviews:

“Groan”: love listening to this whenever I’m in a bad mood because it makes everything worse (in a good way)! 98

“Wet”: yeah, okay, this was in my top five last year … 99

“James Deen You Let Me Down”: “BUT THE ONLY THING I’D GIVE YOU NOW IS A CRUDELY DONE VASECTOMY.” 90

TOP-TIER. This is by far one of my favorite albums ever. Simultaneously atmospheric, haunting, totally badass, and really really poignant. Also filled with bangers. But I think the overall effect is maybe what does the most for me; listening to this start-to-finish makes me feel things I’m not sure how to describe.

Individual song reviews:

“Romance”: one of my favorite Fontaines D.C. songs ever! There’s something simultaneously beautiful and utterly disturbing about ... read more
