Carly Rae Jepsen - Dedicated

I must say that I have never really listened to any of Carly Rae Jepsen's music at all. I'm pretty sure the only track I had heard of hers before this album was 'Call Me Maybe', so I was going in pretty blind. Ultimately, I found 'Dedicated' to be a safe, simple pop album that had a handful of fun and interesting tracks but not enough to make it a unique and recognisable pop album.

Right off the bat, the album kicks of with 'Julien', which is without a doubt my favourite track on the album. It gave me high hopes for the rest and pulled me in, however the heights this track reached where never met later in the album, with the tracks coming closest being 'I'll Be Your Girl' and 'Right Words Wrong Time'. Honestly there isn't too much I can say about this album that isn't already obvious. The production is squeaky clean and nothing too out of the ordinary for an average pop album. Song structures and lyrics are basic and stripped down, and Carly's identity on this album isn't anything too extravagant.

All in all there isn't really anything special provided in this album except for 'Julien'. It is a safe, innocent fun pop album, but that's about all it has going for it. It was a decent listen, but not something I will be coming back to anytime soon. 62/100.
