How did this album get cleared to release?

It's really a shame Kendrick wasn't able to live up to the expectations. It really shows what taking years off of music can do the quality of someone's output. This album honestly was one of the biggest letdowns I've come across. The production quality is where it takes a nosedive into disappointment.
