ARTMS - Dall
72

None of ARTMS’s pre-releases got me interested except for Birth so my expectations going into this album was somewhat low. However, the rest of the tracks on the album were decent K-Pop. The productions really hits when it does, and while I clicked with a lot of the tracks, The use of vocal effects in Flower Rhythm and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy made them really hard to listen to. And Air just sounds like a less energetic, less interesting version of Air Force One. The ... read more

Meghan Trainor & T-Pain - Been Like This
60

idk guys if you pretend that you don't understand english and ignore the lyrics it sounds pretty good imo!

NMIXX - ENTWURF
63

Once again NMIXX just can't get their "MIXX pop" concept to sound decent.

DICE (48/100): I was super stoked for the song because of its choice of using jazz/theatre instrumentals. The parts of the track that utilize this are definitely my favorite (The opening and the chorus). But the verses are so bland and sound like a below-average ITZY song. I'd say the 2 sounds blend together a lot better than O.O but at least there you have 2 separate songs that sound good on their own, ... read more

이달의 소녀 [LOONA] - LUMINOUS
48

no loona what are you doing this isn't you

Luminous is so bad. The girls sound like they are bored as hell, vocals are weird and the chorus is SO DULL holy hell. The song goes nowhere and felt the same the entire duration I was literally about to fall asleep. The first 30 seconds kind of ate though!! But that is not nearly enough to save the dumpster fire that is the rest of the song.

Sick Love is okay. It was a lot more upbeat and fun compared to Luminous and the chorus is actually very ... read more

Billlie - the Billage of perception: chapter two
77

Billlie releases yet another captivating EP.

my B = the Birth of emotion: (78/100): Love the electronic sound in the chorus, and while it was repetitive the catchiness compensated. The transition to the verses was somewhat jarring but you get used to it. The outro was also a nice surprise.

B'rave ~ a song for Matilda (81/100): Stunning vocal performances in this song. The melody was interesting and sounded very pleasing to the ears. Did I mention this song has the best rap section on the ... read more

PURPLE KISS - Geekyland
76

Purple Kiss comes back with "Geekyland", a very interesting release.

Intro (74/100): This track sets up the tone perfectly for the horror-Esque concept they were going for, at least up until the hook, which was slightly less good but since it's short I'll let it pass. The vocal harmonies are very pleasing to the ears too.

Nerdy (84/100): I didn't vibe with this track until the 3rd listen, which then clicked so hard. The hook was slightly underwhelming at first but I've grown to ... read more

Superorganism - World Wide Pop
68

The album was an... Interesting introduction to this band for me. Every song on this album takes on a weird, glitchy, somewhat disorganized direction in its production which, while sometimes works more than often becomes very overbearing to the listener. Sometimes less is more, and some of the more tamed tracks on this LP are my favorites while the more experimental stuff falls flat. Overall most of the album would work great being played in the background but only a handful of tracks stood ... read more

HyunA - Nabillera
54

Hyuna comes back with a subpar release after nearly a year of inactivity.

Nabillera (51/100): This song was surely something! There are elements that I really liked such as the adlibs in the chorus, and also the pre-chorus. However, the song's production is... Questionable. The chorus never changes, and the same boring elements just get repeated 3 times. The lyrics... I cringed when the slay part came in 💀 Overall this song completely lacks the elements that make the song enjoyable ... read more

Lizzo - Special
65

Lizzo's sophomore album while flawed, but an earnest attempt to replicate the essence of her debut album Cuz I Love You. I really like the soundscape this album laid out, ranging from disco-funk heard in songs like About Damn Time, or more dated sounds heard in The Sign. However, my biggest gripe with this album is that none of the songs carried out their full potential and left the listener disinterested. More than half of the tracks were forgettable at best, and outright annoying at worst. ... read more

STAYC - WE NEED LOVE
57

STAYC comes back with a short, 4-track single album and I have mixed feelings about this release.

Beautiful Monster (47/100): I couldn't vibe with this track even if my life depended on it. STAYC's songs are known to be growers but here there weren't really any parts that I liked. The production was frankly quite boring and didn't go anywhere interesting. The vocals were okay, I liked the high notes at the end but why was it so short? This was honestly worse than ASAP because at least there ... read more

Billlie - the collective soul and unconscious: chapter one
81

I was really anticipating this release from their teasers and they did not disappoint with this EP.

GingaMingaYo (the strange world) (83/100): I'm not a big fan of talk-rapping so this track was originally a miss. However, I decided to give it a chance and it grew on me a lot. Billlie has such unique and fun instrumentals compared to other K-pop groups and this track is a perfect example of that. It's quirky, bouncy, and overall a nice listen and introduction to the album.

Billlie - track by YOON: Patbingsu
92

I was unsure of the first verse but after the chorus hits, it clicked with me immediately. The track progressively gets better and by the final chorus they just secured their score in the 90s. And the best thing is when you go back to listen to the song again the beginning grows on you!!! Another absolute gem to add to Billlie's flawless discography.

ITZY - CHECKMATE
67

I was REALLY not feeling the songs during the highlight medley but now that I've heard the album in full I appreciate the tracks a lot more.

SNEAKERS (52/100): This song was fun and reminded me of Icy and Dalla Dalla. Unfortunately, there aren't any sections that really caught my attention except for the pre-drop which is pretty camp. The chorus is less stupid now that I've heard it in context but it's still not good. Overall better than their recent titles but still not what they are capable ... read more

이달의 소녀 [LOONA] - Flip That
71

The moon girls come back with their highly anticipated summer release after their performance on Queendom 2.

The Journey (75/100): The intro is a great introduction to the EP's dreamy and ethereal vibe, just long enough to set the tone of the album without making the listener lose interest. Not as exciting as 12:00 but is still one of their best.

Flip That (60/100): The house track opens up very promising until the drop, which I find pretty empty and expected another more powerful drop to ... read more

LE SSERAFIM - FEARLESS
70

I definitely didn't know what to expect looking at the rating of the album and the scandals totally didn't help. But I decided to give it a chance and to my surprise I had a much more pleasant listen than others.

The World Is My Oyster (70/100): I think it perfectly serves as the intro for the album, loved the bass and the overall badass vibe the song gave me. One problem is that the track goes on for too long and could've ended 30 seconds before it actually did.

FEARLESS (50/100): Fearless ... read more
