Yeah yeah it was very progressive for its time, but let's be honest, the tracks just aren't thát great when taken at face value... It's not bad, but if it weren't for the historical context, this would go down largely unnoticed I think
I have no idea whatsoever why this is rated so highly. It does everything right in the sense that it's good music on paper, all the elements are there, but my god it's pretty damn dull in practice.
There are many bad albums, awful albums even, but there's nothing quite like this. I'm sure most artists releasing shitty albums believed their stuff to be anywhere from ok to pretty good. But I think what makes this so uniquely bad to me is that you can actually hear how he thinks he made some incredible, diverse, frontier-pushing concept-album, instead the of the absolute beyond-description disaster that it is. It's like dunning-kruger effect to the max
