She's done it again. Song for our Daughter was my favorite album of 2020 and this picks up right where she left off. The theme of motherhood obvious but not in a way that ever feels redundant. The first two songs are exceptionally beautiful and paint a picture of a new mother discovering a new purpose and a new beauty to life through a child. The album does take a mild dip after the first two songs, but it picks up with the interlude 'Time Passages'. The three minute instrumental piece brought me back to life as I started to fade. I'm not even sure what instruments I was listening to but I was present and blown away. After the interlude, Laura presents one of the best tracks on the album, 'Caroline'. It's a beautifully simple song with a consistent finger picking pattern and some accompanying strings to complete a wonderful yearning tune. The album closes with what in my opinion is the strongest track. The vocal layering on the ending bridge gives me chills with every listen and gives the end of this album a warmth and comfort that feels like a mother's embrace. A wonderful masterclass from Ms. Marling
