I gave Bleak a relisten before this album just to get a refresher on what I might hear and what may be new. I'd say the instrumentals are what makes this EP more different, but there are some flows and and vocal changes that I find intriguing and would be interested in hearing more from.
Overall, I'm pleased with the EP. It isn't revolutionary, but there is a track on here that I'd actually add to my main playlist, which is Ballisong.
Ballisong is actually a great track and great start despite being unfortunately too short. The whole track is tough though. The flows are fun and the production on this track in particular is something I'd love to hear more of in the future.
Curiousity Killed the Cat is a bit more of a straightforward Cjstew track that I don't think brings a ton of memorable stuff to the table. It's better on a second listen, but it's still pretty straightforward compared to the rest of his catalog up to this point.
The following track, Never High Enough, is one of my favorites though for the vocal effects we get to hear. It's something I can really get behind and the instrumentation throughout the entire record is what I tend to gravitate towards in rap.
Count It As a Loss is another track that I think is decent but not the most memorable, especially compared to the previous track. It's still plenty listenable. i just-i just- 💥
MP3 wraps a tight bow on the EP. The instrumental is different that I don't think I've heard from Cj. I think it's a good track, but would benefit from being longer.
Overall, I'm happy with the results here. I gave it about three listens and just wish the tracks I like most were a bit longer. Give us an extended version of Ballisong 🗣️ 55-60
