Jane Remover - JRJRJR
72

Solid rage rap song that has hyperpop influence, cannot wait to see what's next for Jane, hopefully another LP

Tierra Whack - WORLD WIDE WHACK
NR

15 songs and it's longer than 15 minutes. 2024 is looking like a great year for music!

60

This album deserves the score of D currently, I will give it a check as I give it more replays. With an 8 1/2 wait for the LD fanbase to just be given essentially an album that is a meta album of his TV show is kinda disappointing. I get that the idea is that LD and Dave are the same person because they are. This album is a little too late

umu - new days
61

EP Grade: D

This project by umu is my first delve into their music and I feel like the EP could've done more to stand out, he singing in Japanese for the song Cake was really good, I just felt like the lyrics were kinda lackluster.
Fav Song : Cake
MLF Song: Till the end

Destructo Disk - Kelly Green Hardcore
75

Go Destructo Disk! First listen of the year, the sound is pretty nice to start the year out, hopefully they can capitalize on this sound for a potential album this year.

Kevin Abstract - Blanket
84

In his first album of his post-BROCKHAMPTON era and third solo album Kevin Abstract delivers a blended fusion of his first two solo albums in "Blanket". Blanket has a unique blend of rock and bedroom pop, with songs like Madonna being standouts in my opinion. There is much to like about this project even if some parts tend to blend in with each other I think this is a solid branch off from his time with BROCKHAMPTON. I will be seeing him in SF in December which might change my rating ... read more

DaBaby - LET'S DO IT
3

Let me clear I am not giving DaBaby this rating because of who he is as a person, but this EP is GARBAGIO! Literally 12 minutes I can't get back because I have a rule that I should at least listen to a project twice before forming an opinion. I knew this shit was a stinker from the tracklist and legit the production was underbaked along with the same 2019 bars that DaBaby had but with some of the shittiest one liners to date. Dude isn't coming back to his heights at this point and is just gonna ... read more

Ellise - Over Her Dead Body
55

This is the first project that I have ever heard from Ellise and right now I can say that I am not impressed. The album cover and her overall aesthetic is cool to me but once I play the EP it just feels like a cookie cutter dark pop album. She's hurt with a dark side that is a killer. The production on the project is done nice and her vocals are good too I would love to see what she could do to separate herself from the oversaturated dark pop scene and not fall into the chaff of this generation ... read more

Merlyn Wood - DIRTY THUNDER
49

In the debut EP from EX-BROCKHAMPTON's Merlyn Wood you see what an all Merlyn song sounds like in 2023, I do believe that Merlyn has the potential to do more. The project comes starts off with a weak introduction and most of the songs seem half baked, because this is an EP and not an album I am not being as critical as I would be otherwise but if the debut album follows the same theme then it's not gonna be a good year for Merlyn fans (me).

Benji & Spillage Village - Love Gun
80

This short EP by Benji. is my first introduction to his music and I have to say I am impressed. Benji manages to create a nice short and crisp 2016 style R&B album that passed the most important R&B test of my fiancé liking it. The word play on this EP is very nice and I am glad that I gave him a chance.

Fav Song: Jorja
LF Song: Terms & Conditions

Ricky Bascom - TANK
41

I CAUGHT A BODY BEFORE I CAUGHT A BODY!

This album is a joke that has some good parts but for the most part it is like getting kicked in the balls for 54 minutes. YRR Ricky has a niche and I found his "Undeniable Bars" from tiktok and I got what I was expecting. There are some standouts on this project like GMO where I had to rewind the song because he was going hard on the track couldn't lie.

Benjamin Earl Turner - HEADSPACE
94

Amazing song by Benjamin Earl Turner, I saw this song when it had less than 10k views on YouTube and I was mesmerized by the visuals and the lyrics of this song. Turner talks about his insecurities and his state of mind.

PUP - The Dream Is Over
88

In the second album from the Canadian group PUP they manage to deliver a great project that manages to capture the summer of 2016 for myself. I remember blasting this album as a 19 year old and just being happy with life. I was captivated by the perfect transition from If This Tour Doesn't Kill You, I Will to DVP and it never gets old. In 2022 I saw them perform the two song combo and the moshpit was godly! I would recommend this as an album to listen to if you wanna rock out.

Favorite Song DVP

R. Kelly - Trapped in the Closet (Chapters 1-12)
83

I am separating what this project was from Robert "Piss on a Minor" Kelly. The story of Trapped in the Closet is the equivalent to an R&B broadway play that could only have been born from the deranged mind of Robert "I Admit It" Kelly. The storyline is so comical from character's like Sylvester the Cat and Bridget who was getting down with that [redacted]. There are more chapters to Robert "Age Aint Nun But A Number" Kelly but it will never top the first 12 ... read more

Common - Let Love
40

I love Common, as a kid he was one of my favorite musicians, like top 5. But I got older and Common's lyrics did as well....

Future & Juice WRLD - Future & Juice WRLD Present... WRLD ON DRUGS
77

PISSING ON MY WATCH LIKE I GOT A BAD BLADDER, I'M STRICKLY FUCKING WITH SHORTIE BECAUSE HER ASS FATTER.
This album is like that abusive partner that you know is toxic and bad for you but GODDAMN if they don't make you feel good when you spend time with them, it is like a drug.... A World of Drugs.
I don't need to say anymore, this album is a trap symphony that Alexander Hamilton and Abraham Lincoln would be proud to hear.

Fav Song: Red Bentley, Make it Back, WRLD on Drugs
LF Song: RED BENTLEY

Eve - Scorpion
90

This was the first CD I ever owned that I remember. Eve delivers an iconic album from the east coast rap scene, this project bleeds the 2000's she manages to be smooth, tough, and sexy throughout the entire project. She has a hood classic with Let Me Blow Ya Mind, if that song plays around a group of people born with a 19XX in their birth year they will know the song. It is liquid diesel. Throughout the project Eve has a great supporting cast including DMX, Swizz Beats, Trina, the Marley Bros, ... read more

Benny the Butcher - The Plugs I Met
85

This project was my introduction to Griselda and to Benny the Butcher. This album is the reason why Buffalo rap was my #1 genre of 2019-2020. Benny in 24 minutes delivers some of the best Escobar/Tony Montana bars giving a 2000's NY tone with a modern twist. Benny's feature selection in this project tends to work to help elevate the project past just one person talking gun and drug bars, you feel the "Family" in the Black Soprano Family as I feel like I am about to drop a brick of ... read more

Dylan Brady - All I Ever Wanted
79

I remember finding this album in the winter of 2015 and I was immediately hooked to the post-dubstep sound that Brady had captured in his debut project. If you told me in 2015 that this random producer that I found from Discover Weekly would become a pioneer for a whole genre of popular music I would not have thought it would be what hyperpop is now. The production on this project is top notch, with the spacey sounds with deep bass riddled production. The lyrics on this album are not the best ... read more

Junior Varsity - Junior Varsity
80

Junior Varsity delivers a really good and short EP for their debut project. The Southern California group manages to take their hyped snippets over the course of two years and manages to deliver a really nice sounding project. There is not much of a theme behind the EP but it is still worth it. I saw them perform this EP in San Francisco and I was mesmerized by their stage presence and how willing the lead vocalist was to jump into the pit and had moshed with me and my friend as well. The group ... read more
