Blur has to be one of my favourite pop / rock bands and they were famous for being one of the most important acts of britpop in the world. 13 is a new turn to Blur's music with a new experimental side kicking in the album. 13 starts of with a long and soothing song called Tender that opens in a warm way an agressive and experimental album. Then it follows with Bugman an awesome track that feels very mean and hard as experimental and progressive at the same time, and that's what this album is all about. Coffee & TV is the song that stands out the most to many people on this record, and you can tell why, it's a smooth and chill song sang by their guitarist Graham Coxon. Then the album leads to Swamp Song witch is another cool tune. 1992 is the next one on the album and it almost feels like the early 90s britpop taken back to the moment of glory the genre had. B.L.U.R.E.M.I. is just experimental madness and it feels like a Ramones rip off. Battle feels like a 7 minute long Massive Attack influenced song that opens a kinda electronic rock version of Blur. Mellow song is a nice and calm acoustic track that then uses a little of electronic guitar. Trailerpark is an ok tune witch ambient sounds are like a Star Wars background soundtrack. The next song is Caramel that has no need in being that long, because it feels kind of boring to drag down a great album if it just means a tiny bit. Trimm Trabb is a great catchy song that explodes with a great riff that makes the album flow again. No distance left to run is a beautiful song that has got me crying several times. Optigan I is an ok song that closes up the album. And it's because of albums like these that i have an inmense respect for blur and no respect for Oasis. And 13 shows why Blur is way better and way more creative than Oasis.
