I didn't know a Post-Apocalyptic album could be so whimsical but I love it!
100th album rated!
What a beautiful record, most of the songs have amazing lyricism and interesting melody’s. George Harrison really expresses himself, singing about everything in life.
The only reasons I can’t give this 100 are;
1) The songs off the Apple Jam are disconnected and grate with the rest of the album and it should have been released separately.
2) Phil Spector refuses to match his production with the melancholy in some of the songs.
A concept album where all the songs are about your childhood and/or a natural disaster using only a guitar and a harmonica is a hard sell but this is way better than I expected!
Very blunt and haunting lyricism that will leave me pondering.
My favourite track is “Tom Joad - Part 1”
My least favourite track is “Blowing Down This Road”
Opens with some bangers, gets flaky after Casual (track 5) but picks itself back up for the legendary Picture You (track 9) and stays brilliant until the end.
