I ain't even finish it yet, this is the best album of the year and it came from the least surprising source.
Simz shifted with this EP, moving into a different sound from what I had expected.
I purposefully avoided the teasers for this drop, knowing it was four songs. I didn't want to spoil anything for myself, which is why this project came as a surprise and I felt like I was hearing something completely new from someone I thought I had figured out.
Forgetting all the review numbers, this EP made me feel exited, surprised and at the end like I had fun. It felt fresh and I don't know how ... read more
I don't typically listen to this genre, or style of music but I find myself saying that more and more these days, then end up listening to said different styles of music. This was much more than I expected and it threw me for a loop, the jazz feel, the vocals, the pop production all intertwine beautifully together and I think this is one of the best albums of the year. It's only flaw is that it could have used with some cutting but otherwise the songs themselves leave me with little ... read more
More exiting than I expected, thought it would be something chill to listen to. Not what I expected, so some points for that, it just feel slike theres more and better of this elsewhere. Anywhere is heat tho.
Great Album, not my evryday genre but some songs have stayed in rotation, months after my first listen.
This album is propped up by certain songs and certain flows for me; the overall production of the album is a huge highlight as well but for the most part, this work is best suited for getting lit.
Random recommendations hit once again, good EP, love me some synth pop. Hope to see more.
Heard of this project through Beabadoobee and Sampha, not only did I thoroughly enjoy their songs but the wide range of pure artistry on this album was incredible, even though everyone is talking about Cameron Winter's "Warning", who elicits indescribable anxiety in a way you won't see often and while definitely the show stealer, shouldn't detract from this near flawless album. While not all perfect, there is not a bad song on this work.
Props to every artist and ... read more
Super fun project, definitely a must listen, 'Wrong Faces', 'Butterflies', 'Other Side' and 'Vanilla Sky' are my personal favorites. Definitely songs I will come back to. I do feel other songs will not get the same treatment from me, however, from front to back, there are no skips and its length definitely aids that.
Steps to enjoy the Album:
1. Understand you are listening to Keem
2. Understand the only time you are listening to Kendrick is on his feats
3. Separate the two, don't make comparisons
4. Enjoy
Optional no.5, Understand the only time you are listening to ANYONE else on this project is on their feats.
Optional no.6, Comparison is the thief of joy, this album with have you smiling ear to ear and/or crying in your arms, let it happen, stfu with "Yes, and"s, ENJOY IT,
Bigger expectations, also why is it a double LP? Better question, why does disk 2 only have two songs?
Yall did Doechii dirty on that verse, I thought it was heat.
If you love Cole, this album won't change that, if you don't, I don't think this album will change your mind. It's the Colest Cole album to ever Cole. I love it for that, some don't. Personally though, I just want to thank Cole for every moment, he caught me at the right time, I needed his sound. I'll be grieving his career, but I'll be able to grieve it with a discography I love.
Thanks Cole.
(this bitch has no skips, which isn't to say that ... read more
I feel like it's all been said already, because it has, great album with a range of topics it touches on. Fairchild made me anxious from the start, the build up was insane, horrible story, great storytelling. The reveal at the end of chapter 16 was super entertaining too.
