I love simple music, not having to guess at metaphors or catch references, with simple guitar melodies and simple drum riffs without any complication. This album fascinates me because of the depressing Indie Pop sound that these guys manage, this small work without much complexity in the background is very common for the band, these simple songs by a couple of young people, expressing their love, passion, pain and sadness in their music without wanting to be geniuses, or the best artists.

The album talks a lot (mostly) about a girl, but in a sad and hopeful way, they are pleas to this girl who stays with him (as it could not be otherwise),
also the changes in his life, I want to emphasize this word "changes" this has a lot to do with the songs and the album itself, throughout the album he spends his time begging for the love of a girl, he will soon realize of this and begins to change the way she sees that girl, previously as someone who gave her life and who depended a lot on her as can be seen in songs like "Club Social" that greatly reflects the power she has in her decisions ( like drinking alcohol to forget her) in Steady talks about how insufficient he feels without her, even once his relationship with her is over, with those two songs we can notice how insecure this person is, and he depends a lot on this person to be happy, even in "Telephones" after of their breakup he says he can't stop thinking about her. Little by little these supplications are transforming, and it will change as we can notice in
"Honey" which talks about a redemption, where he wants to leave his old self behind, moving on to "Soft" where he talks about the importance of facing his problems, while in the previous one he wanted to leave his past behind and change, here he highlights the importance of facing those small mistakes and first accepting each of them to be able to change.

the importance of facing those mistakes small and first accepting each one of them to be able to change.
The song "Be There" is very ambiguous and I couldn't know what it says with certainty, but the interpretation I give it goes hand in hand with this message, he mentions "From the outside, looking in I want to be there" and he also mentions that He is fading, this could mean that despite all this he keeps looking back (his memories with her) and that is why he would like to be there and I am fading, how little by little he is getting over this girl.
In Retrospective this song only reinforces the message of the album, in the song it seems that he is talking to this girl and complaining to her about everything she put him through (as last words), but it doesn't matter, that love was not accidental, his love was his. It was true and he feels good that his love with that girl happened "Feeling lighter with time
While you take off your skin
Bathed in the sublime
"What have you found inside" this verse means the change in his life, the redemption. And well this album has a lot of comparison with his ep "Vibes" because of the sound and the lyrics of the songs, but it doesn't matter, I am happy with the result and Yes, sons of bitches, I felt identified with my Melanie, I'm thinking about leaving ours behind, but I'm afraid.
