I’m surprised that Tory Lanez is still able to make albums at a somewhat normal pace considering he’s in prison. And this is a significantly shorter listen than his previous album, PETERSON. In my opinion, that works in favor of LOL : SLUTTY BASS, as the main intention of this album seems to be to just have a vibe to it. And that vibe stays pretty consistent throughout the project, except for a couple moments.
There aren’t really songs that stand out in a positive sense since ... read more
One singular word comes to mind when I think of Skeletor by Chief Keef: Exhausting. Most people would think (and probably do think) that 14 tracks doesn’t sound like an exhausting listen. In most cases, I would agree. There are plenty of good 14 song albums out there. But when you make an album where damn near EVERY SONG sounds the same, and there’s no substance or even an overarching theme, it can make for quite a tiring listen.
There are some songs, however, that are actually ... read more
(A Dangerous Lyfe):
This felt like a very unique album from Yeat. It still feels like a Yeat album, but it’s very polished, and it felt like he knew what he wanted to do, unlike LYFESTYLE by him. The main thing A Dangerous Lyfe has going for it is the consistency. There are rarely any dull moments on this album, so it’s hard to really pick a standout track.
If I had to pick one, it would definitely be My Way. The intro from Julia Wolf sounds haunting, but in a good way. And I was ... read more
This just feels like such a surreal moment. 9 months of delays and broken promises, and we finally have BULLY. As much as I don’t want to say it, this album could’ve used a couple more weeks of fixing stuff up, but I’d say this album is like 90% finished.
There are some truly great songs on this album, such as ALL THE LOVE, FATHER, and THIS ONE HERE. I know a lot of people will disagree with me on that last one because of potential AI use, but I love that song because of the ... read more
This marks my first true exploration into the underground rage trap sound. And this was a mentally exhausting album to go through. This did not need to be 21 songs long. If it was maybe 15 songs, I would’ve had a much better time. Nettspend managed to make an album that’s inconsistent in quality, but almost all the songs sound so similar to each other.
There are some good moments on this album. Like when the beats of tracks blend beautifully or calm elements within the rage trap ... read more
