I was coming into this project like many recently: needing good instrumental study music. I was expecting something remiscent of J. Dilla's production, and while to an extent that was true, this record is much more psychedelic. One of my favorite parts of the experience is just that: many of these tracks meld together to make this journey of an experience. The best songs here are definitely the drumless trippy sampledelic cuts, even if I do enjoy your more hiphop adjacent tracks. Only gripes with the album are really some of the times when DJ Shadow gets a little too turntable-happy, and the intro is just alright.
