Tyler, The Creator - DON'T TAP THE GLASS
80

Makes you dance like no one’s watching….even though no one ever is.

Standout Tracks
*Stop Playing With Me: Banger. Makes you want to two-step and fight an invisible arch nemesis at the same time.
*Don’t Tap the Glass: Bite, soul, bounce, leggo (do people still say that).
*Tell Me What It Is: Dark horse of the album. Love the heavy bass and drums.

Skips
*I’ll Take Care of You: Works in the context of the album but I’d never listen to it by itself.
*Sucks Free: ... read more

clipping. - Dead Channel Sky
78

The highs are really high and the sound is unique. It's not very consistent but when it hits, it really hits.

Standout Tracks
*Run It: fire and easily the best track on the album.
*Dodger: rapid fire flow with some relentless percussion. You feel like you're trying to keep up.
*Keep Pushing: less aggressive than some of the other tracks but it slaps. It was a cleaner groove but never loses momentum.
*Dominator: pure industrial chaos in the best way. Makes you want to squint your eyes ... read more

Florence + the Machine - Everybody Scream
80

Florence is back!

Standout Tracks
*Witch Dance: killer bass line. Witch chants. Makes you want to dance in the woods under a full moon.
*The Old Religion: feels like a haunted children's book.
*You Can Have It All: it's emotional and gorgeous. Nuff said.

Skips
*Buckle: just ok. Could have removed this and the album would have been just as good.
*And Love: a soft and decent closer but doesn't really add anything.

Nas - Light-Years
63

Great rapping. Forgettable beats.

Standout Tracks
*Madman: closest thing to a banger. The bass slaps and that weird high-pitched synth somehow works.
*Writers: the most complete song on the album. 4mins long, great beat, smooth flow.
*It's Time: I totally expected a Steve Miller Band feature. This song is a tease and should have been 2 minutes longer.

Skips
*NY State Of Mind Pt. 3: if you're going to make a part 3 it needs to be stronger than this.
*Bouquet (To The Ladies): fun ... read more

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets - Pogo Rodeo
79

Part mosh fuel. Part head trip.

Standout Tracks
*Salsa Verde: banger - classic PPC energy. More like Salsa Habanero (knee slap).
*Born in the ADs: heavy fuzz and grooves - pure headbanging energy.
*The Real Contra Band: tighter and more punchy than their usual sound.

Skips
*Watermelon: diet PPC. Lighter, dreamier, but mostly mid.
*Looniversal: more of a garage rock feel. Nothing bad but nothing that makes me want to listen to it again.

Tropical Fuck Storm - Fairyland Codex
83

The weirdest album I've loved all year.

Standout Tracks
*Irukandji Syndrome: loud, psychy (is that a word?) and haunted. Massive drumming and the vocals sound like a more unwell version of Jello Biafra.
*Bye Bye Snake Eyes: feels like the best scene in a Tarantino movie.
*Moscovium: a dark slow burn that inevitably explodes.

Skips
*Stepping On A Rake: slower, more intimate but doesn't stick.

Die Spitz - Something to Consume
67

Half killer, half filler. When they lean into their chaotic punk energy - they crush it. But too many tracks feel like variations of the same song.

Highlights:
*Throw Yourself on the Sword - heavy riff, full send.
*Riding with My Girls - built for the pit.
*Sound to No One - trippy psych jam.
*Red40 - high-energy.

Skips:
*Down on It - more of the same.
*Punishers - nothing bad, but nothing new.
*A Strange Moon - meh closer.

Maruja - Pain to Power
90

An explosive blend of punk and jazz. This one just hits different. Slightly repetitive at time but it’s a start to finish play. The saxophone is the icing on the cake on every track.

Highlights:
*Blood Sport - powerful opener that sets the tone.
*Look Down on Us - goosebump level intensity.
*Break The Tension – gritty with a killer bass line.
*Born to Die - 7 minute slow burn that pays off.

Tame Impala - Deadbeat
42

Feels like a collection of leftovers. A couple standout tracks, but most of it leans repetitive and weirdly low effort.

Highlights:
*My Old Ways - smooth groove.
*Dracula - dancey, airy and well put together.
*End of Summer - fun jam but a little too long.

Skips:
*Oblivion - painfully repetitive.
*Ethereal Connection - 8 minutes of nothing.
*See You On Monday - nothing here.

Clipse - Let God Sort Em Out
93

From start to finish, it’s raw, sharp, and fully locked in. The beats hit hard, the flows are surgical, and lyrically it’s straight venom. No skips and easily one of the best hip hop albums in years.

Highlights:
*Chains & Whips - hypnotic and hard hitting.
*POV - dynamic banger.
*FICO - sharp and clean.
*Let God Sort ’Em Out - Nas seals it.
*By the Grace of God - pure heat.

McKinley Dixon - Magic, Alive!
92

He does it again. Blends hip hop, jazz, and gospel into something that just works. The flow is tight, the instrumentals go hard and it feels super cohesive. Every track keeps you locked in.

Highlights:
*Sugar Water - gospel vocals, horns, bars...straight fire.
*Run, Run, Run - smooth and groovy.
*Recitatif - second half transition slaps.
*ListenGentle - sad, beautiful, and hits hard.
*FFOL - huge brass and energy.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Phantom Island
72

As usual, King Gizz goes big jumping between styles, pushing boundaries, and throwing curveballs. Phantom Island isn’t one of their best, but it’s creative throughout. The instrumentation is rich and some songs hit. Others feel a bit rough, unpolished and the vocals clash.

Highlights:
*Phantom Island – catchy orchestral opener.
*Lonely Cosmos – ballad turns space rock, Bowie energy.
*Silent Spirit – mellow and complete.
*Grow Wings and Fly – ... read more

Little Simz - Lotus
88

A soulful, sharp, and emotionally rich hip hop journey. It’s one of the year’s most complete albums.

Highlights:
*Flood – hypnotic and dark, with head nodding bounce.
*Free – pure sunlight in sonic form, uplifting and breezy.
*Thief – groovy garage-style drums. Big energy.
* Lotus – soulful, cinematic, and haunting.

Skips:
*None – every track adds to the whole, even the quieter moments

Tunde Adebimpe - Thee Black Boltz
66

Worth a listen for TV on the Radio fans. It’s experimental and emotionally raw at times, but feels incomplete and not likely to become a regular rotation staple.

Highlights:
*Magnetic – high-energy, and classic TVOTR.
*Ate The Moon – subtle at first, but the second half lifts it into a standout groove.
*Streetlight Nuevo – solid mid-tempo blend of electronic and strings.

Skips:
*Pinstack – playful, but runs out of steam before the finish.
*The Most – ... read more

Viagra Boys - viagr aboys
82

While there may not be any massive, standout singles, the album thrives on consistency. It’s cohesive, fully formed, and keeps you locked in from start to finish.

Highlights:
*Man Made of Meat – hilarious and hypnotic critique of toxic masculinity.
*Uno II – a dog song that shouldn’t work but absolutely does.
*Store Policy – punchy, off-kilter beat with flute magic.
*Dirty Boyz – gritty, grungy mid-tempo punk that hits just right.

Skips:
*None – no ... read more

Arcade Fire - Pink Elephant
48

A murky, meandering miss. There’s a lot of space, but not much substance. The vibe is personal and reflective, but it rarely connects.

Highlights:
*Year of the Snake – simple but engaging.
*Circle of Trust – cool 80s vibe that almost pays off.
*Alien Nation – grungy sci-fi jam.

Skips:
*Open Your Heart – overly long ambient intro.
*Pink Elephant – conceptually interesting, musically forgettable.
*I Love Her Shadow – feels lazy and half-baked.
*She ... read more

Wu-Tang Clan - Black Samson, the Bastard Swordsman
78

Typical Shaolin sword style flow with some fresh emotional weight. Not every track is a knockout, but the standouts hit hard.

Highlights:
*Mandingo – classic wu aggression and bounce.
*Warriors Two, Cooley High – instant head nodder, pure replay value.
*Let’s Do It Again – an eerie wind-up music box banger.

Skips:
*Shaolin vs Lama – quirky beat, decent verses, but not a return to.
*Charleston Blue, Legend of a Fighter – thoughtful themes, but lacking punch ... read more

Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels
93

A masterclass and explosive debut that punches hard from the first bar and never lets up. Killer Mike and EL-P bring a lyrical mix of rage, humor, and righteous fire. It's grimy, loud, and unfiltered.

Highlights:
*Get It – total adrenaline rush, the beat hits like a truck.
*DDFH – serious themes, but an absolute banger.
*No Come Down – hazy, cutting, repeat-worthy.
*A Christmas Fucking Miracle – personal, powerful closer.

Skips:
*None

Gorillaz - Gorillaz
90

A genre-blending fever dream. It’s dub, punk, hip hop, and melancholic trip-hop all rolled into one. From laid-back grooves to full-blown bangers. The album rarely misses, and nearly every track brings something fresh.

Highlights:
*Clint Eastwood – stone-cold classic, effortlessly iconic.
*Sound Check (Gravity) – emotional slow-burn with lush layers.
*Tomorrow Comes Today – moody masterpiece with haunting harmonica.
*M1 A1 – closer with big energy that leaves a ... read more

Makaya McCraven - Highly Rare
74

A heavy blend of lo-fi jazz, hip-hop rhythms, and experimental energy—recorded live and full of raw, unpolished charm. Great for late-night zoning or headphone deep dives.

Highlights:
*RFJ III – tight groove, killer bass, and a sax solo that seals it.
*Above & Beyond – head bobbing jazz-hop magic.
*Left Fields – chant to tribal dance shift is chef’s kiss.

Skips:
*Icy Lightning – drifts by without much punch.
*Early Bird Once Again – more of an ... read more
