I was really rooting for this album to be good but so far none of the singles have convinced me it won't be mid :/
There are some great ideas here, but they are generally overshadowed by the weak writing and general repetitiveness. I don't personally find most of what he explores on this album to be compelling at all, or to be explored in a satisfactory way. His attempts to discuss how he's not ready for kids or to get married or whatever, but what he's saying isn't at all countercultural like he makes it seem. He raps about sex a lot, and doesn't even try to make it remotely ... read more
As much as I did not enjoy my experience with his last EP, this one actually wasn't bad. Still pretty mid, but it actually had some personality, and I didn't mind it.

Um. So, I could just have not posted this.
But I put in all the work how could I not
Sometimes curiosity gets the best of you yk? I took a break from reviewing albums because it's musical season so I'm basically only listening to soundtracks. So I finally decide I'm going to review an album and for some reason I choose this one. And then my cat died but that's probably unrelated.
Yeah, I know I could have stopped after the first song but like, nahhhhhhhhhhh. Sometimes ... read more
Production was pretty decent for the most part, lyrics and vocals... not so much

Every song here fees like it was done better in the last movie. That's not to say there aren't some decent songs here, it's just nothing impressive. I haven't seen the movie but considering I didn't really love the first movie I doubt I will. It was a good movie, just not one I really felt the desire to ever watch again. I'll probably end up seeing it somehow though, especially if it gets even close to as big as the first movie.

My favorite Christmas album. Not every song is a winner, but the original songs here actually capture that Christmas feeling and that's not something I can say about most modern Christmas music. Santa Claus Is Thumbing To Town maybe not so much but it's a fun song nevertheless.
The covers are mostly punk, which can be fun to reinvigorate certain Christmas songs I'm not particularly fond of such as Deck the Halls, Angels We Have Heard On High, or even I'm Getting ... read more
A cute song that gets a bit tedious in the end. For a modern Christmas song, it actually is pretty good. Not going to become a classic or anything but it's nice.
When is Taylor's Version dropping.
The two original songs are decent, and some of the covers are fine (Santa Baby is just a crime to Christmas music though and no cover will ever fix that). Silent Night is butchered though, she keeps changing the tempo at all the wrong places and I don't think her style of music at this point in her career fits the song in the first place.
It's the Christmas companion to her debut, so it has the same basic instrumentation and country vocals. ... read more
Light of Christmas IS an Owl City song. I mean, the production is definitely him. And yet here we are.
No, but seriously, this is a better version of his previous Christmas album, as we add a few more original songs which are all quite good, and get rid of the bad Diverse City tracks.
I'm not generally a fan of modern Christmas music, but any TobyMac fan should find a good amount to enjoy here.

The TobyMac half of this album is a bit hit or miss, but the Diverse City half is mostly miss.

Jordan Feliz has made some pretty good Christian pop in the past, but this is just more of the same basic sludge that gets churned out all the time. A shame, really, but it's what happens to most Christian artists who find radio success. Why innovate when you don't have to?
Favorite Song: The King Is Alive
Least Favorite Song: Armor
I think The Anthology might actually be a bit better than the original album but since it's tacked on, you have to listen to over two hours of the stuff.
Favorite Track: Cassandra
Least Favorite Track: thanK you aIMee
Somehow doesn't do anything to bother me despite being such basic CCM music.
Favorite Song: My God Is Still The Same
Least Favorite Song: What He’s Done Before
Sweet, but perhaps a bit too short at times. It feels like it calls back to a different era, even if I can't exactly name what that is. It somehow captures a bit of nostalgia for the music I used to listen to, even though most of that music I don't like anymore.
