Idk man like I think if we gave this a better sung verse by Lola, this would be a cool song on an album. there's some beautiful music/production, and lola's vocals are awesome. but Yachty's verse doesn't add much at all, and in fact kinda takes away some potential for what this could be. Am I a hater? No, but this wasn't for me
okay so i love this album. it's tough because upon initial listen(s) of the first release/version of hyperyouth, i definitely liked no hands better. i definitely might have no hands on more playlists, and they definitely hype me up better. i even think i probably had an objectively more emotional first listen to no hands than i did to hyperyouth. BUT with all that being said, i have found myself taking more of a liking to hyperyouth compared to no hands more and more as time goes on. ... read more
i like this album. i think it's not the greatest thing ever, but it's a fun time. i would say listen to it if you like a few songs off it. you probably will. i would at least recommend 3-4 songs off this to EVERYBODY. this is a blast. it is not a masterpiece. i think each song is individually good. it is kind of to me like a playlist of lots of fun songs with similar themes. isn't that what an album is? yeah. do i love listening front to back? yeah. but i'm not replaying ... read more
This is wonderful. I sometimes think the order isn't perfect, but most of the time it is just stellar. There are so many bangers. While some are not songs for all seasons, they're all great songs at some time or another. And most are great all the time. So many songs here are very stellar and dare say, perfect. I don't think the Showbiz is a great song to end on, but if we are calling it a bonus track and disregarding that, this is a wonderful splendid album that has something ... read more
okay so this is weird because this whole album is not at all *Die With A Smile*. But The Beast is lowkey this album, and goes great after Shadow Of A Man, which DEFINITELY belongs, and also fits well where IT is at. But also, I feel like The Beast needs Blade of Grass after it. And Blade Of Grass can't exist without The Beast. And Blade Of Grass fits perfectly where it does on the album, but can't possibly be an album closer. But by the time we get to DWAS, it feels so disconnected ... read more
Okay so first I wanna say that this album is gonna be a lot higher on my personal rankings than I am objectively rating, scoring and reviewing this album. I really love this album. The thing is with this album is that this is for people that really like gay pop and the 80's style and sound. And this album is great at being that. It's just not super accessible. And I don't know if it's trying to be. However at the same time, these songs are some decent songs to play around ... read more
Full disclosure - I did not know who Joji is besides maybe 3-4 hits before this album. I heard maybe 2 songs from an ex, but that was only twice. I did however, listen to maybe two singles from the album release cycle? I didn't mind them, so I thought I would at least give this album a try.
It's definitely a vibe in a sense. Like he's very lowkey edgy. Like when the very heterosexual person that is chill with gay people calls themselves alt and they like going for late-night ... read more
Okay so to me, the front half was exceptionally strong. i love ipod touch, but really the first 4 tracks go so well with each other. I kinda see like an Act 1/Act 2 kinda thing. Where like a broadway musical, the second act is more emotional. I do think this is a pretty well made album. I don't know the genre or artist very well, so I don't know how groundbreaking this is, but this is very fun especially at the beginning, and still a blast up through til the end. I love the ending ... read more
very fun, but not pop perfection. a vibe though with emotion. i kinda like it, but it's not super worthy of too much more. 73.8
a great album with back to back bangers. is it a 10/10? no. it doesn't feel totally cohesive in a way that i love. not all the songs are hits (as in they hit it out of the park). but the songs that aren't hits often still really fit the very cool woodsy natural "Deeper Well" vibe. If it's not your thing, that's cool. But this is a great record. The deluxe tracks also add a good amount. I like this album. Good shit. 76.73
haven't seen the movie, but regardless, this is a very cozy song i really like. nothing perfect or strong enough to leave an impression, but does a good job at doing what it's supposed to i think.
such a great debut. while some songs are a bit short and maybe a select few do leave a bit to be desired (however they are still all great in their own ways), this album shines. it's lyrics are incredibly strong, awkward, and funny, but poignant/down-to-earth and relatable. this is clearly not her magnum opus (again in the best way possible) because while this is solid, I can so many hit songs coming out of her with better lyrics and cooler themes. This record makes a GREAT impression. ... read more
needs more variation. not bad, but nothing here is good and of any substance. 57.8
not a fan of this. it's just not my cup of tea. it might be someone else's. but he has proved his voice is better with different production. but we have yet to see much of that from benny released online. it's okay anyways. it should also be much shorter. it peaked before it ended.
not a bad song, but nothing stellar, as its title might make you believe. a nice spot to start a career though. 68.6
a nice political song. sad and kinda relevant, but not timeless nor something i want to come back to. i know that is probably not the purpose of the song, but anyways. it is really good, and the writing is poignant, but it's not my favorite writing even across all her songs. all hail jensen mcrae still. 85.7?
i like it! it really relies onto the sample later in the song, and i wish we got more of the song that does not rely on the sample so much. we see snippets of what that could have looked like. not bad. idk i still like it. but not great.
