When Melanie Martinez announced that her fourth studio album would consist of eighteen tracks, her fanbase rejoiced. However, in reality it's difficult for a record of that length to avoid becoming bloating, and unfortunately 'HADES' has not overcome that. There's some brilliant songs here, but also some of her worst: Martinez comments on the current state of the world, examining beauty standards, religion and politics, but her valid points and visible talent are undermined by tracks such as 'Disney Princess' which come across as cringeworthy and unnecessary, not adding much to the tracklist or her discography
