Many would argue this is MUSEs musical peak - or so to speak "magnum opus" - being one of their longest and most musically intricate albums, Absolution was not a complete renovation of sound like Black Holes and Revelations or it's predecessor Origin of Symmetry. Absolution acted more as an anchor point, pointing MUSE towards the American audience as they shifted away from the more space themed and exotic sounds of Origin of Symmetry and stripped it away into more straight forward and brutal rock. Featuring some of their biggest commercial hits and best tracks, such as the pounding "Hysteria" with it's famous bass line (try play it!) and "Stockholm Syndrome" which is one of MUSEs close dives into metal - Absolution will remain the majority of MUSE fans favourites. Being one of the best alternative rock albums of the 2000s, it showed MUSE were capable of subtly changing their style while keeping their enigmatic charm in place. BEST TRACK: "Stockholm Syndrome"
