I took a risk and bought this album on vinyl and did my first listen to it on my record player, I knew I could definitely come out of this experience not liking it as I wasn't too keen on The New Sound, but thankfully black midi is a definite step up from Greep's solo work.
I really haven't heard anything like this, just a really chaotic, rambunctious and whimsical experience. The instrumentals are all over the place yet so well arranged, some of the stories being told are so crazy weird and once again whimsical but that's what makes this album even more overwhelmingly different.
The first half of the album outshines the second by a pretty big amount though, Geordie Greep's vocal delivery especially from track 7 and on does tend to throw me off and some instrumentals get a bit too busy and lost in translation, but I came out of this album with an overall good time and a shock on my face of how well it all worked out.
