This track has G R O O V E
In dissimilarly, with previous songs by the man straight out of Compton, the message of this song becomes obvious within the first chorus. I like it. Speaking of which...
Beat:
It's a simple beat throughout the song, but as the piano comes in later as Kendrick goes off, this beat goes HARD.
10/10
Chorus:
The chorus of King Kunta is groovy, simple, and to the point. Kendrick delivers his message of his superiority by simply saying "Now I run the game (rap game), got the whole world talkin'" which is kind of nice. It's to the point, easy to understand, and catchy. It has a groove and a rhythm which I absolutely love. There isn't such thing as a 10/10 chorus, it could always be better.
Score: 9/10
Verse 1:
Kendrick takes shots at other rappers and talks about how the industry wants to corrupt him. Again, short and sweet, and to the point. Same thing with the chorus. There isn't such thing as a 10/10 verse, it could always be better.
9/10
Verse 2:
It's too short. I know that verse 3 is longer, but this is too short. It's like half a verse at best. I feel Kendrick could have made maybe one or two more comparisons to the yams (things people want).
8/10
Verse 3:
Best verse off the song. Kendrick goes OFF, and it's AWESOME! Screw nothing being perfect, if anything is it, this is.
10/10
Outro:
It's too long, but catchy enough that I like it, but still, point deducted for length.
8/10
Total: 9+9+8+10+8+10=54/60 which is 90%
Conclusion: King Kunta is a great song, but can get quite simplistic at times.
