Maybe I'm a just Lorde apologist, but while Virgin may not quite live up to the impossibly high bar set by The Lorde herself with Pure Heroine and Melodrama, it’s still a good album. Had it been released by any other indie/alt act, it would probably have been extremely well received, instead of being labelled as decent-to-good but with an asterisk.

Very nice sounding but feels like it never really gets to where it wants to go. Harvest Sky is 10/10 though.
Indie rock is SO back y'all - that's what I thought upon hearing Friko's first album, thawing my jaded younger-millennial heart. This one is not quite as immediately compelling, but it still rises to meet the (insanely) high expectations; or, at the very least, avoids the dreaded sophomore slump.
