Esoteric - Epistemological Despondency

This is a really strange album, the first two songs barely even sound like they were even made by Esoteric. The opening track "Bereft" is a 20 minute psychedelic, ambient, and space rock based doom metal track with an incredibly confusing and disorienting atmosphere. A nice prog rock album that blends acoustic rock, prog rock, folk, orchestral elements and even elements of electronic music in some of the songs. Paysage d'Hiver - Steineiche

Even though this album is kind of disjointed and feels much more like a demo then most of his other works, this album still holds up. The first track "Die Baumfrau", which roughly translates to "The Tree Woman" is a typical atmospheric black metal track that you would expect from Paysage D'hiver. However, even though this is only his first album, there is something so dark and haunting about this track that makes me always want to listen to it. The track, harmonically, ... read more
