I’m aware that many singer-songwriters pour their blood, sweat, and tears into creating their most intimate, personal, and emotional works. Yet few could ever come close to capturing the same level of vulnerability and rawness that Adrianne Lenker conveys in her music. I don’t know what type of magic she uses but it works wonders on every single song. Some more tender than others, some lyrically vulnerable, some sonically beautiful, it’s just straightforward amazing work.
Listened to this because of the grammy win, I think the album is great but this is definitely not 2024 AOTY.
The music on this album is just so majestic and elegant, I could never get tired of listening to this album.
Props not only to Mac himself but to everyone that helped assemble this album after his passing. The music that is released after an artist passes away usually is heavily manipulated and the original art is essentially lost somewhere during the production process. Running for almost 90 minutes and having a pretty solid track list is impressive. Usually when albums have over 15 songs they already start to get lost in the sauce.
