KING was extremely popular in the VOCALOID community when it first came out in 2020. To this day, I cannot figure out why. From a compositional standpoint, this song holds up. The melodies are fine, catchy even. The instruments have fun counter melodies and the chord progression is standard.
Overall, the problem with this song is the fact that the production quality is simply not there. The instruments are building on a good melody and harmony, but they do not sound nice in their own right. ... read more
Wow. This album is mature, moving, and vulnerable. Multiple tracks resonated with me a lot, so I really enjoyed the listen. The lyrics are excellent throughout, and I like that the album blends acoustic and synthesized sounds seamlessly. It feels cohesive and uses similar textures to pull things together while the instrumentation is always keeping things fresh and interesting. The harmonic and musical qualities are nothing groundbreaking, but this album is very cohesive and just strikes the ... read more
This was a surprisingly decent soundtrack in a movie that I didn't really enjoy too much. It isn't unique or a standout, but it's not bad either. The kids might say this album is "mid." There are some tracks on here that I'd put on my playlist and listen to again, but a lot of them left me wanting more.
As an example, I feel "Liar" has a lot of potential, but I spent most of the song waiting for a swell in the texture only for it to not really deliver. ... read more
I think this is a solid first release for FLAVOR FOLEY. Despite it being a very modern vocal synth release, the subject matter of the song is reminiscent of the Vocaloid horror songs that would come out in the 2010s, so that's a big selling point for me personally. In terms of the actual sound, it's a bit heavy on the high end in the mix. In my opinion, though, it makes up for this by using pleasing sound design. The knife sounds are a good touch and the bass synths are really ... read more
Definitely one of the cornier vocal synth pieces. The production is also sub-par compared to other popular FLAVOR FOLEY releases. The chorus ends up sounding pretty thin and this song generally lacks a satisfying low-end. That being said, it is VERY catchy and there is some humor to be found in the sheer corniness of these lyrics. This is the kind of song that I find myself needing to listen to just so I can get it out of my head.
Don't hate it, but I don't love it. I'll give it ... read more
