Lizzo - BITCH
59

This new album from Lizzo isn't bad and anyone who says it is are just hating. The big problem with this album is the writing, it's just so corny, especially with how the tracks are titled, it just gives the wrong view on the album. Other than that, the vocals on this album are amazing, which is common to see considering Lizzo's amazing vocal ability. Had she really delve deeper into making this album better in terms of lyricism and thematic means, this would be way better. She ... read more

Malcolm Todd - Do That Again
82

Malcolm proves to the masses that it doesn't take unique ideas for the crowds to love the music. Musically, Malcolm takes advantage of the bedroom pop soundscape to create an indie album that is bold in its instrumentation, while also delivering vocals that match the themes of the album. Now, the track ideas themselves do get stale after a while, and the production does have a limit in the tracks when it comes to sounding good, but nonetheless this album has a lot going for itself. Tracks ... read more

Jalen Ngonda - Doctrine of Love
85

A soulful expression of Jalen's vocal ability, and bringing in a progressively smooth feel-good time, 'Doctrine of Love' is a radiant view on what love is. Although the writing lacks anything grand or impressive, the vocals that Jalen brings, and the production backing it with a jazzy, cheerful atmosphere elevates the experience much further than it should. The drums, the background work with the choir, all the way to the groove makes it hard to really see any faults with this ... read more

Kanye West - GEMINI SEASON
20

No cus Ye definitely took some sort of drug before this because imagine it's your birthday and the first thing you do is make a demo song about being in heat while having the cover be a fucking cow. If I didn't know any better I'd think Ye was into cows or some shit

Vince Staples - Cry Baby
85

A purposeful jab at America, from its album cover to title, Vince Staple's 'Cry Baby' breaks the artist's stagnant growth and brings it to further heights. Vince goes from an underground hip hop legend into something far more advanced, a political direction covered in strife and introspection, with rock-rap as its driving engine to sail things forward. The writing is meant to be crude, with the concepts and themes of each track displaying the current generation of the ... read more

Kim Petras - Detour
76

Kim's debut album surrounds itself in a Hyper-Dance-Pop element, absolutely wrecking everything beyond normality and decently crushing her way through it as a whole. The repetitiveness of some verses, and production choices not really working does undervalue the record by a lot, but an experience still worth it. 'Detour' is a debut album that shouldn't be held under scrutiny by any means, because a deep listen will tell how much it kicks ass — bringing in an energy ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.
85

What happens to a human so eager to receive any bit of sign from God?

'DAMN.' is a double path of Kendrick's Life, intertwined yet always distinctly contrasting: showing either a life of misfortune, or a life of constant repenting.
'Fate controls us, but freedom keeps us at bay — a constant finite imprisonment of denial'... It's a quote that perfectly describes an album as conceptually powerful as this.
The Pulitzer winning rap album displays a level of ... read more

Cรถ shu Nie - Asphyxia
100

One of the greatest openings ever and it's from one of the worst adaptations of a manga ever... it pains my heart that something this amazing has to be used for a butchered anime. Tokyo ghoul's grasp on the 2010's era is something I'll always miss though... those times were something for sure

IShowSpeed - Champions (WC 26)
90

Speed's passion for football places this song in a very high tier in terms of the song itself, and the video. As a song it's solid but doesn't exceed anything great, but as a world cup song? I haven't heard anything as good as this since 2014, which says a lot. Good for speed man

EDIT: Changed it to 90, vibes are too real honestly, energy is raw, perfect world cup song in ages

Odeal - Lustropolis
85

My first exposure to Odeal and it's safe to say that he's an underrated talent in the R&B industry, quipped with a provocative tone and seductive melodies that shape this EP into a great one. 'Lustropolis' is Odeal's one of a kind mark in his discography, and more can definitely come with how inspirational his music sounds.

Gorillaz - The Mountain
87

'The Mountain' at its peak, is a spiritual reinvention of everything that Gorillaz stood for in the past 25 years, opting for a far more light-hearted package while also making their experimentation far more ambitious and emotionally heavy. The performances from all featured artists and the band itself shows a level of adaptation far more impressive than any album they've made. The writing's concept brings life to the open field that the production brings and the ... read more

slayr - Homerunner

No but seriously slayr's grip over the digicore and aoty community HAS to be studied because an artist this talented is a raaaare fucking moment

Neurosis - An Undying Love for a Burning World
85

Neurosis releases an album for the fans, but does it really set new standards for them?

'An Undying Love for a Burning World' is Neurosis' 13th studio album, a band that, alongside multiple other bands/artists, put metal on the map and made it the legendary status it has today. Now, with their 10 year long hiatus officially coming to an end, does the album justify the break they've had? Yes. This album is for the fans, the sludgy almost intoxicating riffs and vocals that ... read more

Gao's hip hop highlight of his career as of now shows a dark, brooding, almost psychological departure of torment and acceptance of it. The almost dead feeling that this album brings stays consistent from the start, up until the very end where it becomes apparent that whatever feeling we had in the first place is nothing more than us listeners adapting to the sound. The end signifies acceptance, in the same way you accept yourself into a cult, or something similar to that. What piques my ... read more

Jill Scott's 11 year return shows a form so familiar to her prime that it's almost indistinguishable from her early days as a Neo-Soul artist. 'To Whom This May Concern' separates the work into two different genres of work, the first half being a slow-groovy jazz atmosphere with bass tunes and repeating choruses that merge into the background, on the other hand the last half covers a more contemporary direction with the singer being more active in her performances which ... read more

Gao the Arsonist - DEGENERATE
89

Gao the Arsonist is an artist that lives in that odd headspace of cryptic personality and genuine artistry, which might be the best mix up for you guys, but for me it sets an odd feeling that does make me question whether he'd fully choose this personality. The reason is simple: people with these personalities just don't really change their music, like yeah horrorcore is an amazing genre and if you're good at it then props to you, but would you listen to an artist stuck in the ... read more

leroy - status update music
94

One of the most chaotic digi-dance-core albums that I've heard of, with Jane proving once again just how skillful she is when producing tracks as complex as you can get. The energy is uplifting to the point where exhaustion becomes normal, but through all that chaos contains a flow that never once breaks: a flow called excitement. Every sample used is a reference and point on just how much rawness she can create. Every track contains pop references in each little moment, and although ... read more

Genesis Owusu - REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE
88

Genesis Owusu brings an album that differs from other political albums; most of them following a jazz format, but 'REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE' follows a very experimental path; diverging its tracks with different genres ranging from Dance-Punk to Post-Punk. This is one of the most innovative albums in the sense that it doesn't follow the usual formula you'd expect, especially considering how much goes into the conscious writing, taking on a more modern political ... read more

Bladee - Sulfur Surfer
42

This is one of the most disappointing albums that I've heard. A producer this talented could have very well been an even better artist for me had their other skills been as good. Bladee's cloud production is top notch on this album, even at a very late age he still has the spirit in him to compete with other major artists of the same genre. What is painful to hear every time; is his monotonous, dead voice that lacks any and I mean ANY notable moments. Autotune has been something that ... read more

"@kenosis I get what you're saying, but to me, voice is like the most important thing when making music. If the voice doesn't suit well, or fails to bring the ideas that you have in mind to fruition, everything else just won't work. Even if the other categories were to be absolute gems, you'd still have a little bitter aftertaste that makes you question whether you should like it or not. And when that bitter aftertaste is too powerful or overstays its welcome, it becomes irritating and boring. That's how I'd describe what this album felt like and why I gave it such score, but hey, to each their own..."

Scores aren't permanent, albums could have higher or lower scores than before, we just gotta wait and see.
