this has found me at a particularly politically pony time of my life.
this record is a lot tighter than i could have anticipated, and i think that's owed to it's unwavering will to be itself. though i'm reminded of RevengeSeekerz in the sense that both of these records have a lot of tracks that I don't dislike but remind me of eachother, and so it kinda blends together. that being said the comparisson also extends to the strength of the highlights. i love the jane remover-esque vocals right before the bass comes in and you suddenly realise that this is a serious bop.
wishlane has adapted his glitchy production to an easy listening pop sound and has been playing with it for a full year now, and with VOLUNTEER*, has completely exhausted it. Seriously, i'm shocked that this record was as fun as it was, but now i'm REALLY sure there's no where else to go with this sound without retreading existing ideas. great stuff wishlane really but please never make music like this again thanks
genius pages reading like twomad's twitter profile. thankfully he's rapping like he's in the tryouts for "death to mumble rap", so you can ignore everything he's saying, which you should. what's left is a pleasent-enough sonical experience that dries out until a second listen feels uninviting. -- nothing here is worth returning to and i'd actively discourage letting these words seep into you.

HAKEN might be the only prog metal band that still has a fire in them to make something new and novel for the sake of self expression. i cant believe im still getting this excited about the start of a new haken release cycle after all the time. what a time to be alive. i love these guys with all my soul. this is so fresh and exciting.
