Wow. This is a top 15 album of all time. I wanted to listen to this originally after listening to LYSF, but I was kind of scared, as I had heard it sounded like the end of the world. Just got around to listening to it today, and everything I heard was true. This album is so apocalyptic and eerie that it’s crazy. These songs should never sound relatable, but yet they kind of do, mostly because I feel like we are on the cusp of World War III. I actually heard somewhere that some guy used Dead Flag Blues (the intro to this album) in the soundtrack to a post apocalyptic movie. Edit: I think it was 28 years later. Thats how apocalyptic it sounds. East Hastings is definitely worth a mention. The part around 10 minutes in is so beautiful. The ending to this track is something I could picture in a horror movie. Another thing about this album is that on LYSF there is a constant build up, and then towards the end there was a giant, amazing pay off that I can’t even describe. F#A#, however, is dark, quiet, and sad. There still is build ups, but way less frequent and sadder, in a sense. It’s kind of like a depressed LYSF. Providence is my favorite of the 3 tracks so far. With the first part being the pinnacle of music to me. It follows a simple but catchy rhythm, involves every instrument under the sun, and has the best build up on the album. The second part of Providence is also amazing, too. Then, 20 minutes in, it cuts to silence for around 2-3 minutes. Not really sure why, but it happens. After that, then there is an outro which is better than most artists whole career, ending the album off on a really high point. (Also, I already wrote this and right as I was about to post it the website crashed😭)
