The reviews unfortunately ruined this album for me as I was listening to it. It’s not a bad album in my opinion, and all the songs are a good introduction to That Kid’s style BUT, the album feels like a compilation rather than a body of work and the songs work better standalone than on the album. The songs are also tewww short.
Favourite tracks: Romeo & Romeo, Denim, Bubblebath
Least favourite: Can We Go Dancing?, Rodeo Daydreams
This album is the closest we will ever get to a 2010’s pop music revival, and although there were a few tracks that weren’t my jam, Frost Children and Petras did a legendary job at making this!
I really appreciate the change of sound, aesthetic and even voice! It shows she’s found her sound, and gives a good first impression of the upcoming album.
Only a few tracks I didn't like as much as I LOVED the other ones, but I should cut them some slack, they were a teenager still learning how to mix and master.
Aside from the few off beat parts, I like how angry this birthday party sounds.
I can hear a narrative in the instrumental and I know that sounds strange but I just can, don't ask me how.
An almost perfect album, in my opinion.
I enjoyed the heavy sounds and compelling lyrics, along with the complimenting aesthetics of the era itself, and there were only a few tracks I didn't like. I liked almost all of them!
A lot of the songs are just decent and don’t have anything that makes them special or stand out. Some of them are slightly better than others and some just aren’t good at all, and there were only a very small amount of tracks I loved rather than just liked a bit.
Also, CHATROOM is bad for the sole reason that Martinez is completely oblivious to the fact that PEOPLE ARE HATING ON YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE A RAPIST!!!! DUMBASS!!!!
I love how each tracks take inspiration from something else and have such varying sounds! (Gas Station having Crystal Castles influence, Unknown Loverz sounding Indie Pop, etc) and how the whole album wasn’t always super loud! Good club music, rather than casual music, and that’s not a bad thing. I like it!
surprisingly makes for good background noise for me and helps me focus, and it just kinda has that dreamy vibe to it yk?
I have more faith in the upcoming singles to be better. I think I haven’t listened to it enough times to understand it. I’m gonna relisten right now.
I don't want to say I hate it, because that would be a lie. I don't want to say I love it either, because that would also be a lie. But, I don't want to say I don't care for it, because that would be, once again, a lie. I don't love it, but I don't hate it, I do care for it and I'll accept what I got. It's not the best album ever, it's flawed, but we're all flawed, so to me, it doesn't really matter.
