Basking in free-flowing arrangements, she previously explored on 'Sling', Clairo’s third album feels as if she has found her place, once again proving that her melodies are irresistible and catchy without following mainstream structures. It takes time for her soft voice and mellow songwriting to come into focus amidst the warm, timeless production, but eventually makes 'Charm' a rewarding record to dwell in all the more.
Magdalena Bay’s sophomore album is exuberant, even more than their excellent debut. And while ‘Mercurial World’ was seamlessly sequenced, ‘Imaginal Disc’ feels a bit lengthier, switching between absolute bangers and atmospheric soundscapes at an unrushed pace. It lives up to its promises, showcasing Magdalena Bay’s unerring creative vision and winning touch for mesmerizing pop music.
With the release of 'Love Me Not' it became clear that Lenae was having a further ace up her sleeve - and just like its lead single, 'Bird’s Eye' is as instantly gratifying and compelling. On 'HYPNOS' Lenae already graced us with many gems, nestling her warm vocals in sleek R&B-production to solid yet somehow predictable effect. Here, she loosens the notions up a little, letting her soulful cadence hold the heartfelt pop songs together.
Erika's third album of nostalgic and stylish R&B is icier and even more pared back than its predecessors. Even though she's only slightly changing gears, her modern production, deadpan delivery and confessional openness hold the album afloat. Featuring several highlights, lead single 'Lucky' easily sets itself apart from the rest thanks to its striking breakbeats.
