On previous listens, I enjoyed the eclectic quality Lucy was exploring mixed with the aspects of his past work, but things just didn't click. I appreciate the desire to move out of a box and put a new version of yourself forward to an audience that already has preconceived ideas about who you are. And NO LABELS: PART 1 feels like it does a bit of that on the surface, but I think this is an example of more style over substance, where Yeonjun tries to envelop himself in a punk attitude, but his performances on each song feel like inconsequential exclamations on the instrumental than really connecting with the music. For me, it's like if you mixed oil paints with let's say acrylics. It's a commendable blend and experimentation, but you lose the power of the original media. It kind of muddles together, and there isn't much of a definitive finish on the final product.
