I'm happy they've finally received their first full length album. I really want to like this more than I actually do, it's 14 songs in less than 40 minutes, meeting typical Kpop standards. Went back and listened to this again for the first time in a few years, and my god it's a masterpiece. This reveals emotions I didn't even know I had, it's a canvas sprayed with colors from every corner of our conceivable reality. 10/10 album cover as well.
Pharrell on this so it's already getting bonus points, expanding into New Jack Swing is great, and I find it to be much better than 'How Sweet'. Something still feels underwhelming compared to the Ditto, Hype Boy, and Cool With You, but this is a step back in the right direction.
Before I go farther, this album is fine, there is nothing inherently wrong with it. But good lord is it boring, you would think after such a hype pre-release with Supernova and Armageddon being the TT, that this album would shoot off in all directions and try new things. However SM love to do this thing with Aespa where they experiment, and then drop the most generic sounding songs. I'm going to echo what others have said for this review, this song goes literally no where. It is easily the most boring repetitive NewJeans song out. Now a bad NewJeans song is still a pretty good song in general, but it's just so bland to me, Bubble Gum is a much better single in my opinion.
