This feels like an EP that I should really love, but something's really holding it back, and I think I know what it is. Some of the biggest sounding moments of this album are very drenched in that heavy synth-laced sound of E.MO.TION era Carly Rae Jepsen, but even compared to some of her breakout songs like Blonde, Josh and Symptomatic, I feel like there's this weird lack of confidence coming through on some of the songs on this album. Kinda Famous feels like it's a really forgettable opener, and both Perfect For You and Favourite Person have this really strange level of pining and lack of confidence that feels uncharacteristic of Peach PRC it it kind of clashes with the aesthetic.
F U Goodbye is probably the first song I enjoy on this EP, a breakup track which has a really cheeky little subversion of introducing it with lyrics as if it's pining over this ex and the things Peach remembers from it before it actually all being the things she hates. It's fun even if it's a bit childish.
Loved You Before is Peach PRC's answer to the question "Would you still love me if I was a worm", the answer being "we did love each other when we were worms. It's fun and silly and the kind of playfulness I like from Peach's music. This is more just a me being weird and enjoying weird songs about bugs in love. Wish she'd talked about bug love more than just "bugs doing bug stuff" tho.
Dear Inner Child is a really emotional closer where Peach talks about her home life growing up and how an abusive household made her grow up too fast to develop coming mechanisms, and is probably the emotional highlight of this EP. It's got one of the sparser beats and has Peach really digging into her raspy singing voice as she talks about much heavier topics and some elements to childhood trauma that aren't super graphic but are still a little uncomfortable to listen to and are handled in the mature way these kind of songs should be handled.
