Census Designated

I want to like this, I really do. I think it improves towards the end but my god, these songs are long and these dynamic builds all hit exactly the same after the 5th song. I feel like the biggest problem within this album is it feels like there's only two modes, quiet and loud. As you get towards the last 4 tracks maybe I think Jane gets better at layering things and that's what's bumping this rating up to a 60 and not a 55 or even a 50, but damn the first 6 tracks all feel like they have the same palettes, the same kind of crash into a distorted, guitar filled high point and sometimes crashing back down to a softer passage again. I don't know. I just got exhausted and fatigued by the end, these songs didn't have to all be over 4 and a half minutes.

There's good to be found here, but yeah... It sucks, I want to pick this album apart like the Underscores album, but god every song feels the same and I was really relying on the instrumentals to bring me somewhere interesting emotionally with how drowned Jane's vocals are on this thing that they get buried in the instrumentals.
