I first found ‘Ctrl’ after listening through different songs that featured Travis Scott, leading me to find ‘Love Galore’ and the entire album from there. To me, ‘Ctrl’ is one of those records that I enjoy listening to on almost any occasion- thanks mainly to how easy it is to listen to in terms of its lyrical content and production, as well as its smooth sounding RnB melodies that I think most people enjoy. SZA’s performance across ever track is impeccable, with her entrancing vocals perfectly complimenting each song- whether it be the more hip-hop infused ‘Love Galore’ or ‘Garden’, to the more cut-back, guitar backed ‘Supermodel’ and ‘20 Something’. The tracks ‘The Weekend’ and ‘Broken Clocks’ are also pretty stellar on this album, with each boasting catchy choruses from SZA and even more of that slick production. The album features multiple rappers as well, from Kendrick Lamar to Isaiah Rashad and Travis Scott, with each contributing memorable verses that suit their given track well- especially Travis. Overall, I love this album, and thanks to its chilled, laid-back aesthetics, I find myself coming back to it again and again.
