Definitely a LOT better than Eastside. This one definitely goes up there with Wall and Summer for me as all time Good Kid greats. Was a bit of a regression into that stereotypical Good Kid sound, but when it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'd say it puts confidence back in me for this album coming up. Holy smokes. Not only is this is another great song from Good Kid, but NEW SOUND? I mean, I thought Wall sounded a bit different from their usual sound, but this... this blows that out of the water! And they made it pretty catchy too. It's fantastic! Best song from Good Kid since either Premier Inn, Summer or Wall.
Oh my god. This holiday song is up there with classics like The Christmas Song and Christmas Time Is Here. I don't think a holiday song has genuinely made me cry a little like this one did. It's a lovely song, and a perfect addition to a holiday playlist.
Okay, so the opening of this song? Very, VERY mid. As a pacifist, hearing about "blood, guts, and glory"? Not really a fit for me. But the rest of the song makes SUCH a recovery. It's good variety from the Good Kidness of Good Kid, while also still sounding like them in the best way possible. And that little drum solo in the middle? Oh my god...it's peak. It is SO PEAK
