I would consider this album to be a hidden masterpiece. It delivers tune after tune of complex synth tones, beautiful chord progressions and a new style that really defines Beth Gibbons' vocals in a way that is blended together effortlessly and seamlessly. The tracklist isn't afraid to linger and flesh out ideas, but it doesn't drag its feet either, ending songs abruptly, but at the perfect moment, a couple times on the A side.

Strangely might be my favourite Beatles album just by the sheer proportion of songs here that are absolute bangers. Not much of the album is wasted on bad material, and most of the fat is cut. It's a blend of classic style Beatles tunes and some of that maximalist orchestration, but used very sparsely - mainly on The Long and Winding Road, which is the highlight of the album. Surprisingly well paced for an album over an hour long. Songs flow into each other nicely, with enough contrast. Energy is present, and is toned back appropriately for mellow and heartfelt moments.
